well i see a lot of varying topics on here. what i havent seen is anything about the possibility of how this can be worked into your car. idk about anyone else but i think it would be pretty sweet to have a 3g ipad in your car so the people in your car can surf the internet or watch movies while on roadtrips or whatever. than i began thinking and i thought of "carputers". what are your all opinions on using the ipad as a carputer? its a bit more easier to use and takes up less room than a standard laptop or other carputers. also, with the apps getting more and more advanced i think someone someday will make apps that work with your car in varying forms. i mean, Viper remote starts have an iphone/itouch app that starts your car from anywhere you have a signal. its pretty sweet. i think this will only get better and im eager to see what else this thing can do in the coming weeks/months.

I think it would be really dangerous and distracting. I think in some states it would also be illegal (too big for a carputer and distracting for the driver).
If you could do it though I think it would be pretty cool.

Taco in one hand, iPod in the other, Bluetooth ear piece hooked to iPhone, SYNC text recognition, driving on cruise control, knee on the steering wheel...

Just what we need. ANOTHER device in the care!

I bet God is kicking himself on deciding to go with just two arms instead of four.:D

it wouldnt be any more distracting than a 7" indash nav/dvd system. granted some drivers will be stupid enough to try to use it while driving but im looking at it for a more of a passanger entertainment device. it will in theory can replace rear seat tvs by playing video off the ipad on a bigger screen and also being able to surf internet on the road. i think the possibilites are pretty incredible.

I use taxis many times, I would love to use the taxi's iPad during my taxi trips.

I'm pretty sure a DC adapter for the car will come out at the same time. But given it charges using the same iPod port, you should be able to use an existing adapter.

I think it would be great for long trips. But I'm not getting one for my kids. I want them to suffer through the boredome I had to endure in the years before the gameboy.

The iPad might make a great work computer with the right apps and a 3G data connection. I've seen work trucks that come with a computer already installed primarily so jobs like insurance adjuster, plumber, electrician, essentially anyone who works out of a truck/van could manage billing, parts ordering, specs and tech manual lookup, etc.. Anything that could benefit from web access or even remote desktop access back to their office PC.
