iPhone Carrier hack patch, get better service/bars from your carrier.

so after doing this carrier hack, i now get 5 bars on my LTE and around 40/Mbps down, and around 12/Mbps up.

edit:

run terminal first before you try to do anything... you can plug your phone in then copy paste: defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE


that will make itunes apply a .ipcc file to your phone, else its greyed out.

I believe you that you now get 5 bars and download speeds of 40mbps, the question is how much bars/dots did you get before and what speeds did you get before?

I installed the carrier hack this a.m. I live in a ****** LTE area and I usually get 1-2 bars in my house with 6mbps download if Im lucky. After the carrier hack I get 3 bars and 12-15 mbps dl. I guess I can't complain.

never did a speedtest, but i know i never ever saw 4 or 5 bars on LTE. which is a constant now.

Update: Installed Verizon. Went from 2-3 bars, to 5. Went from 31mb download, to 42.


Pretty decent.

And since I get great speeds anyway I don't see a reason to risk it.

I noticed in the Cellular settings, LTE shows as "Off", instead of data/voice. It still works though.

yeah i hear ya, if i got great speeds i would stay away, but so far so good here.

ive rebooted/resprung etc, and its still good here. just offering thread as a tip.

Why wouldn't apple have it set like this?

Kinda scared.

Once iOS 8.1 stops being signed then its a risk getting into files like that. And carriers continually change and update tower and carrier settings for certain devices and firmware versions. Don't think it's something manual users should be altering on their own. You could see improvement now but if the carrier decides to change things on their end you could be stuck with many issues.
No pun towards the OP. He's just trying to help others.
I'm just letting ya know about past experiences and possible implications.

You should try it though... I jailbreak just for this... At least give it a try!

Is everything completely reversible with this commcenter hack?
Cause when AT&T releases voice over LTE officially those with altered carrier settings would be stuck needing a restore.
