In my country the biggest carrier Mtel is seeling iPhone 6 16 GB for 2399,90 BGN off contract ($1548) or you can get it for 1850 BGN ($1193 ) with 2 year contract on $54 monthly.

I would be interested to read some other outrageous iPhone 6 pricing around the world.

Here in Finland all iPhones are unlocked retail versions. I paid full price for my iPhone 6 (699€), but carrier prices are pretty reasonable.

Carrier price for instance:

Vodafone :

Fixed payment (phone pice) 150€ + 30€ month = 1gb + 0cent calls. During 2 years.

Vodafone is usually cheaper than rest of spanish carriers.

Note 4 not available yet but LG G3 you can buy for 1099 BGN off contract ($709) or BGN 659 with 2 year contract. ($425) - Samsung S5 is about the same.

iPhone 6 = starts at $650 USD no contract. $199 with contract (some places like Walmart sell for $179).

Some carriers are offering free iPhone 6 with trade in your old phone or cancel your contract with current carrier and sign up for new line with new carrier with trade in of old phone.

iPhone plus = add $100 USD.

In Austria it's also 699EUR as the poster from Spain said.
