Has any US carrier tipped their hand as to whether they’re offering trade in deals like they did last time for the 7? (Trade in a 6 or better and get 24 months in credits that equal the base price of a 7)

It’s a great way to lock someone in to their service for24 months, even without a contract.

I’m guessing those will appear no earlier than Friday morning, if then? Is that what happened last year?

I honestly don't see it happening with the X, but if it does I would imagine it would be after the initial rush of orders is over.

Verizon is offering up to $300 off an iPhone trade in... issue though is it’s only for the 64gb version you get the credit. They’ve purposely not included the 256gb version.

There weren't very good promos for the iP8/8+ so I don't foresee good promos for the iPX. What I think will happen is that there will be good promos on the iP8/8+ for Black Friday but none for the iPX.

My thought is they were all waiting for the X..that's my hope at least! :)

So if you want to buy a higher storage model than 64gb they won't give you anything?

I think it's a competition thing...and if they're going to do it, they will do it right away, to lock folks in for the next two years. I'm so hoping that T-Mobile does it, as I think that's what happened last year, they did it right away, then Verizon followed, then finally AT&T fell into line. Gotta love competition! And even last year, the jet black + took a LONG time for some folks to receive it, but the carriers still honored the deal, as long as the order was placed prior to its expiration.

Where do you see the promo for Verizon? I only see it for the 8 that ended sept 30th

I don't think that will happen. They discount phones when they need to. There is no need to discount the iPX due to the high demand, but there will be a need to discount the iP8/8+.

Correct, there is no trade in promo currently for the Verizon iP8/8+. I am sure you will see one again for Black Friday.

That promo expired on the 30th of September but it was both for the 64GB and the 256GB models.

Carriers won't offer deals like last year because it was written in a article that they got hammered on wall street due to the losses they had to take when they offered those deals. At best they will offer 300-350 trade ins or maybe up to 400-450 max, that too with the idea that you will upgrade to a unlimited plan too. Plus they won't offer those deals till Black Friday too, since they can sell every iPhone X(10) with no deals. The only deal you will find at pre-order time is having the Activation Fees Waved.

I really doubt that you will see deals on the iPX on Black Friday since they will still be backordered by then. I think you will see trade in deals on the iP8/8+ on Black Friday.

Yes. I hate the upselling of the unlimited plans. They don't do this with any of the android devices.
They did with the S8/S8+ promotional trade in deal. Many people switched to the February unlimited plan then and are happy they did since the current Go and Beyond unlimited plans suck.

I'm debating on trying to reserve one for in store pickup at the Apple Store and then trade in my 6s and use that toward the price of the X. But I'm not sure if there will be enough for that option.

The best promotion a carrier could possibly run for the X would be a promo saying:

WE HAVE THE X IN STOCK

Other than that, there is zero reason to run any sort of monetary discount on the phone or provide enhanced trade in values. The X is the most anticipated iPhone since the 6. It's likely to be extremely limited availability and people with a 6 (or iterations of the 6, like the "8" for example...), have been salivating for it since long before the keynote.

Discounting a product people would literally line up to pay full price for would be like trying to charge full price for a Galaxy S7. The market would respond exactly as you'd expect.

This is THE gadget of 2017. Even non-nerds (I consider myself a nerd, so calm down...) are excited about it.

Don't hold your breath for incentives. Instead, if you want one: pre-order, or prepare to pay MORE than full price for the privilege of getting one this year (and don't worry: if you aren't "that person" that pays over MSRP, there are plenty of people with disposable income, that especially come 11/3 (if they are empty handed) "are" =)).

Get your popcorn ready!

Certainly not holding my breath, but a guy can dream right?

You are correct in that on the surface it makes no sense to offer promos. However, if your competitor is offering a better deal than you, on a device that everyone wants, will you sit back and let them steal your customers?

For Apple, there’s no reason to offer incentives. For the carriers, it’s the perfect way to steal business. The carriers don’t care if it will be delayed. Once you order with them, they have you for 24 months (assuming a similar plan as last year).

Looks like Verizon and T-Mobile are offering $300 off with trade in, and Sprint is offering $350 with trade in.

Need to be on one of their leasing/upgrade plans for all 3 though.

EVERYONE is only offering $300 max. It’s a big bummer compared to the last two years. I was expecting $650 (which is effectively what they offered last year and the year before). Still, $300 for a base 6 is better than what I would get for it elsewhere. But the deal isn’t anywhere near as good as it was.

EDIT: why are so many people stating that carriers aren’t offering any trade deals when all of them very clearly are? They’re about half as good as last year, but that’s much better than the nothing most of you are “sure” will be offered...

I’m not seeing anything on AT&T regarding a $300 trade-in offer....can you point me to it?

You’re correct. Their offer was a bogo on 8/plus.

Edit: and apparently up to $200 for a trade in but wading through their eligible devices and values isn’t worth my time lol.

In order to take advantage of those savings however, you will need to use Sprint's Flex leasing scheme and trade in an eligible smartphone. The list of those includes the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus,iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, iPhone 6 and 6 Plus,Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+, S7 and S7 edge,Note5, LG G5, G6, and V20, Google Pixel and Pixel XL, Moto Z Droid, Z Play, Z2 Force, Z Force Droid, and Z2 Play, BlackBerry Keyone, and the HTC U11.

I own or owned four of those phones listed above qualified for the $350 trade-in. I'm kinda regretting that I only sold my Pixel and S7e for $300 each and should have held onto a Sprint G5 that I got for $120 at Best Buy. Then again, it's Sprint. I hate them.

Waiting for John Legere to top this deal. I will refuse trading in any of my current phones. One of my CL buyers actually texted me again asking if I had another S7e for her daughter. I told her nope. V20 is too important to me with removable battery and IR blaster. None of them are expendable.

Just going to wait a couple weeks getting it but will still be there to watch the festivities at my closest Apple Store in either Cerritos or Brea malls.
