I've heard conflicting claims but my question is can you take advantage of the carrier trade in program ($650 credit over 24 months for trading in your iphone 6) when purchasing your iphone 7 or 7+ at the apple store?

At least with Verizon, the way I read the promotion, you need to be on the verizon payment plan and they credit you the $650/24 for your iPhone 6 trade-in that offsets your iPhone 7. I don't see how that would work if you get the phone from apple.

So I just read this on the Verizon website: "If you wish to trade in your device at a later time, please ensure you have activated your new iphone 7 first, then log in to my Verizon and select "trade in old device".

That makes me think that you can buy anywhere then activate on your Verizon account then select "trade in old device" afterwards.

It would be nice if this could be confirmed. I could have already purchased my phones from my Apple Store on Saturday but I wasn't sure about the rebate.

If you bought the phone without financing with Verizon's plan, you won't get any credit. You can return your phone and get another one using Verizon finance plan.. If you got the phone using Verizon's plan already, you can start the process of submitting the trade in...

Verizon told me no. Cause I'd hav to get tha phone from them. But if you get it from apple but on the Verizon device payment plan that is pretty much the same thing as getting it from Verizon.

Hey there, I registered just so I could reply to to this! I called Verizon twice and it was confirmed that the trade in applies by both CS reps. it sounds like it's recommended to get the trade in process started before you purchase the new phone.

Anyway, canceled my preorder and picked up my RG 128G 7+ at the Apple Store. The purchase at Apple is showing as a completed order on Verizon now and my trade in is showing as eligible for up to $650. I'm mailing it off today.

By the way, no, Apple installments are not the same. You need to set up the monthly carrier device financing when you make the purchase at Apple. The payments are then on your monthly bill from your carrier.
