Carrier Update from O2

I updated this yesterday and can confirm it doesn't effect the jailbreak. I havnt noticed anychanges to the APN settings either?

I wasnt using the tethering hack, so cant confirm anything with that.
 
Anyone confirm the 9th Aug 09 O2 Carrier update doesn't break tethering? It's not too much of an issue saying cancel each time I plug the iPhone in, but annoying none-the-less. Anyone wanna take the risk?

Don't know if it breaks tethering as i'd never used it before.......but i activated tethering on a brand new 3gs after updating, and it works fine.
 
I just did it by accident. It removes the hack. But I added it back just as quick. Still works. I don't know what they did but o2 has been down a lot lately. Wonder if this is just to fix something in the system.
 
Yeah I updated and forgot about this thread... I was sick of waiting 3 minutes to load ebay's login page with full signal and 3G... It seems better now, but, time will tell

I have just bitten the bullet and updated. The tethering hack was on when I updated and it is still on now. So, for me, it works. Phew.

I have not updated to 3.01 or the carrier update. But I think I will do so now. The 3.01 does not break tethering does it ? I don't tether that much but it's very handy to have.

No does't affect the hack, although if it does stop working just reapply the hack it should work.

I'm on 3.0.1 and with carrier file version 5.0
 
didn't affect my ability to tether and I didn't have to reapply the hack either?!
 
firmware 3.0.1 and Carrier 5.0 issues

I have tried everything I can think of to get mms to work...I downloaded the Carrier 5.0 from 4.0 and I am on firmware 3.0.1. After installing the carrier 5.0 I had the option to send MMS...in the txt message the little camera came up and I could select a pic and had the choice to send via MMS but they just timed out and would get the little red explanation point. So I put my iPhone SIM card in my Nokia 5800 Express and I made a few calls, checked voice mail, sent a txt and MMS message. I then took the SIM out of the Nokia and back into my iPhone thinking I was going to be good for MMS but it wiped out all my settings for MMS...I no longer have the option for MMS in TXT or in Messages. But the Tethering option is still there which i do not care about..

What gives....I even jailbroke it and used 3.0 firmware and still did not work...So then I loaded Swirly MMS2 and if I wanted to use it I had to pay $12..NOT!!!!!!

so now I upgraded to 3.0.1 with Carrier 5.0....jailbrake was removed...

OH this is on 3G S phone only 2 weeks old..
 
I updated to 3.01 and the o2 carrier update. And the tethering is still working fine. I not sure but 3g seems to be a bit faster after update. I got 669 kbps down and 339 Kbps up on the speedtest. I've never got that speed before.

Nice whilst tethering I can get downloads of about 120kb/s (actual download speed)

You sure you have the right settings for MMS on the iPhone?

My MMS works, in a 5800 Xpressmusic and my iPhone 3G on O2.

APN : wap.o2.co.uk
Username : o2wap
password : password
MMSC : mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
MMS proxy : 193.113.200.195:8080
MMS mac message size : 37200

well i've done it and seems fine...
not sure i'm seeing any MMS yet tho...
(not that i care/ever used)

btw, not many Cydia apps run in iOS4 yet – just sayin'
