I have one for my Air and it does the job, but it's kinda thick. I don't know how much heat it traps in it because I haven't pushed my MacBook, but it definitely protects against scratches. But beware, it's kinda ugly and makes your Mac look ugly.

I use a TOMTOC case for mine very reasonable and weather proof.
