My parents got my daughter a 9.7” 2018 Ipad. We are looking for a case that’s protective like the Otterbox Defender but also one that allows you to attach a keyboard. Also, even though I want it to protect well, I don’t want to lose functionality as I might be using it time to time.

Suggestions please on a good case and keyboard.

Thanks in advance!

Defender and a separate BT keyboard would be protective and simple enough. On Amazon, the Omoton BT keyboard is less than $20, works well and is portable.

Does she use a keyboard already? I was thinking my seven year old had fingers too small for a physical keyboard to be any easier than the on screen one.

I just introduced her to a mouse and keyboard on a Mac mini for the first time a week ago. She caught on quickly with the mouse. I think the keyboard is slower for her than when she types on her iPad though.

My daughter was 8 when my dad bought her the 2018 iPad. We got her a cheap case on Amazon. She picked the pink one. It offers great protection and has a handle that folds to a stand. My 2 year old has grabbed it and thrown it a few times. Case works. Lol... Let me see if I can figure out how to post a link or at least a picture. As for as a keyboard goes, my older kids seem to get along with the own screen keyboard.

I bought all my grandkids these cases (and I also put glass screen protectors on their iPads). For the 6 and 7yos that are learning to use the keyboards, I picked up the Omoton ones (that’s actually what I use with my iPP sitting elevated on a stand - very similar to an iMac keyboard, and really inexpensive).

I love how they can flip the handle to make the iPad stand up, and then just set the keyboard in front of it to use it.

They have held up well. Five of the grandkids have iPads, and only the 3yo has even cracked a screen protector.
