I haven't found the perfect case yet. I've seen some that offer compatibility with both a magnetic mount and wireless charging but they require purchasing a proprietary magnetic mount.

Which car mount are you hoping to use this with?

I think the reason why case manufacturers make their own proprietary mount is because they all have different ways and numbers of magnets in their cases to avoid interfering with wireless charging. Some have 3/4 magnets and I've seen some that have more.

The one I'd think might work is the Pitaka case - I've used it with the Evutec magnetic car mount and it holds just fine (this particular mount doesn't have wireless charging, but if it did I'm sure it would work).

I'm using the Sosche wireless magnetic mount with my X in an Apple Leather Case. Works fine.

I'm using it with a Koomus mount. I don't really care about wireless charging in the car but would like for it to work outside of the car

No experience with wireless charging here but I'd think the metal plate would interfere with the charging.

Perhaps you can find an acceptable case with a credit/business card sized pocket on the back in which you can put the metal plate...and take it out to charge.

Yes, these add-on metal plates will prevent wireless charging, some cases have magnets/metal plates positioned around the wireless charging receiver so it doesn’t interfere with wireless charging.

I’ve got the Pitaka case, Evutec AER karbon cases with built in magnets for the car mount and they work flawlessly with my wireless charging pad at home
