I wonder if being able to develop new watch faces is part of the development kit.

I wonder if people start developing watch faces that copy 70s/80s Casio watches would they get sued.

I wonder if Casio would develop watch faces for Apple Watch.

But the problem though is the ratio would probably be wrong. I remember old Casio digital watches were mostly squarish with rounded corners.

As a developer, I can say no, it currently isn't. And developers can't make watchface apps. This may change with the native dev kit, to be released later this year.

Go here and type Casio

There are many watchfaces for the Pebble watch like that.

Much like the pebble watch and jailbroken iphones, there are some proper fugly watch faces and themes, but the opportunity to individualise your watch/phone are what makes it interesting.

It would be great to see the ability to create your own watch faces in future dev kits, and there will be some very very ugly ones, but it's down to personal choice.

The biggest complaint people hear about Apple is they force you to do things the apple way. While it usually ensures security and consistent functionality, it takes away the individuality.

Can you post a photo link or upload a photo to which Casio you're speaking of? I do remember them being huge.

That would be fitting since the Apple watch looks pretty much like a silver casio watch from the 70/80s. It would be pretty awesome to have a watch face to match.
