I have quite a few cassettes to convert and I have a question regarding the best software to use. For equipment I have a TASCAM 322 duel well cassette deck, M-audio Firewire 1814 interface and a Mac Pro with dual 2.66 processors.

What I would like to do is be able to record two cassettes at one time and save them to mp3 format. I've tested Garage Band with a number of cassettes and it allows me to record multiple tracks, but I then have to save them to m4a format (which takes a very long time), then convert to mp3. I've also run into a problem with GB where while I'm recording I get the tinted screen saying I need to hold the power button down and restart my system. The only time I've seen this problem is when I'm recording the cassettes. I'm not doing anything else at the time so I don't think anything but GB or the Firewire interface is causing this.

Does anybody have any suggestions for other software packages that allow multiple track recording and saving to mp3?

Thanks
Michael
