That subject title is a little click-baity sorry but essentially I left my refurb macbook pro on a shelf at the top of the stairs about 2 years ago and the cat followed its clearest instincts and pushed it off, annoying but my fault I guess. It was a 2010 macbook pro that was working great, after the impact the ram was knocked out but went back in ok, the macbook ran but would sporadically reset seemingly for no reason.

Upgraded to SSD which is running a hell of a lot better, clean installed everything and updated to latest OS. Macbook is running really well but it still occasionally restarts with unconnected symptoms leaving the below error. Can anybody shed some light on what might still be wrong with the old machine, I guess I should really sack it off and buy a new one but I do have a soft spot for it and if it's something replaceable would enjoy cobbling it back to full health. Any advice very much appreciated.

Yes, +1 for the graphics issue. Looks like hardware I’m afraid.

Unrelated to the drop if that makes you feel better.

Unlikely to be related to your clickbait cat.

It's most likely ye olde graphics issue with the 2010. There was a repair program to swap the logic board a few years ago. IIRC there's a tantalum capacitor C9560 that supplies power to the GPU that goes bad. It's a pain to replace.

Take a heat gun to the GPU, you might be surprised at the outcome, seriously...

Q-6

Don't mess about with the heat gun, won't do anything.

Ha, will be sure to cover against random acts of cat in the future. Thanks very much for the info, will stop blaming pet and consider buying something newer. Thanks again

Error logs are standard fare if you work in development, testing or support for software and hardware products. So is reading crash dumps. Ideally developers name their modules and routines in a descriptive way so that a casual reader has some idea as to where the crash or failure occurred.
