Hi!
I waited for 10.15.1 and finally wanted to do a clean install yesterday, but the installation would not even start.
Anyone else having this issue? Any known workarounds?

This was my process:
  • Booted in internet recovery mode (cmd-opt-R). Was asked to update but wiped the disk with disk utility instead.
  • Rebooted again in internet recovery mode and chose the install option, which was now available
  • The installer with the nice Catalina picture showed up asking "click continue to setup the installation"
  • Verified in Apple menu the installer was indeed 10.15.1
  • Clicked "continue", the button turned gray, then nothing
  • Waited a couple of minutes, but nothing happenend
  • The logs (cmd-L) showed some errors (something like "package authoring error, access requires /flle/path allow-external-script = true", I do not remember exactly)
  • Tried PRAM-Reset, which worked, but the problem persists.
Macbook Pro 2016

Now I could install High Sierra again and then update to Catalina, but I want a fresh install.
Or maybe booting the installer from external drive might work, but I would prefer something simpler if possible.
I hope that it is just the installer that is bugged and that Apple will fix this quickly.

Does anyone know anything about this?

Rant: This is unacceptable, really.

I just literally did a clean install. One thing I had to do is disable any security in my router. I have an ASUS router so I had to disable AiProtection then the download completed very fast and the installation started, went to 10.15.1 right away the latest version

Thank you for you input. I'm not aware of any advanced filters in my router, but I will check this.

This is likely the problem. You interrupted the install. I think you should reboot to internet recovery, reformat the drive, and reinstall but let it finish. Don't get impatient. Just let it run. Leave the house for six hours if you must.

I did a clean install yesterday without any problem. The only thing that is not working properly is the Music app, it runs out of memory when loading my collection of 3000 songs.

I tried again and it's installing right now.
I simply let it do whatever it was doing and after a while the progress bar showed up.

Apologies for this thread. It's just that with previous versions you were given instant feedback so this this time it seemed like it was stuck or frozen to me.

Thank you for helping.

This felt like flying blind or worse - flying by the seat of your pants, not knowing, as it converts and shuffles files and volumes ... while also performing a firmware update! worst experience installing software and 30 years Mac.

I did a clean install yesterday on a new third-party SSD + adapter. The only things that don't work are Apple TV and Music app, they can open but they doesn't connect to my Apple ID account. The Music app doesn't even load contents such as music artworks. Before doing the clean install Apple TV and Music app all were working correctly on macOS Catalina 10.15.1. I've also installed Windows 10 with Bootcamp, all went ok.

It will do, give it time. It took a while for my album art to load and I have over 51000 songs.
