I have a cataract issue, it started with blurry vision looking at my 13" laptop, I switched to a 23" 1080 TV/Monitor, then doctor said my prescription is up to date so the next step is surgery, I hesitated and wondered for a few months whether a new monitor will make things better without surgery, I adjusted the low-end TV/Monitor and ease up on the sharpness setting and the "halo" around the texts improved but still no go. I finally decided it was time and had the surgery, now the sharpness improved notably with the same TV/Monitor, the "glare" which bothered me before is no longer and perhaps the final plus is, I am not pushed to buy a new monitor.

Hope this helps somebody.

Cataracts aren't a big deal these days. My mom had one 20 years ago and got new lenses for her eyes. Afterward, she could see perfectly again. Back then, the procedure was already done on an outpatient basis. Today, it's probably just routine surgery because it's nothing special anymore. Sure, it’s about the eyes, but it’s no longer something you have to worry about—like being afraid you’ll be blind for the rest of your life. Glad it went well for you, too!

Might be worth reading for those who are interested:

Excellent threads Fishrrman for folks into photography. My concern was that my job requires quite a bit of everyday screen time and I am not ready to retire just yet. I was able to delay the surgery with a combination of contacts and reading glasses but the writing was on the wall. For folks into color accuracy, it was kind of fun laying there on the recovery bed, had my dominant eye just worked on, 2nd eye two weeks later, and closing one eye and switch and seeing a yellow world, original eye, and a blue world, operated eye. One new thing I learned, did you know one eye can be adjusted for distance vision while the other eye for near vision? [Johny Carson] I DID NOT KNOW THAT!

Speaking of photography, my camera days are over but I do use a pair of binoculars on my days out and had completely forgot what the surgery would have effect on this and can report now, no problemo, I had forgotten what I have now is the same as when I was using corrective contacts for distance, have to re-adjust the focus knob on the binocular but that's it.

I known cataract surgery is no big deal these days but Doc still tells you, 1 out of 400 cases, problems, should still give one pause, and personally am on the camp of what the Lord gave you is best, don't touch it if you don't have to 🙂.
