So I have an iPhone SE that I'm trying to wipe for a client. It has a parental control passcode, so I can't wipe it via software. We know the Apple ID password though, so I figure, easy fix - DFU mode. I'll clean wipe it, then verify the Apple ID to unlock it, and then it can be used for the next owner. So I go through that procedure and it works fine, until after the OS install, it goes into "attempting data recovery" mode. And when done, i'm left with the same darned phone I started with. How do I wipe a phone anymore?

I eventually figured it out - I was in fact able to turn off Find My without proving parental control passcode, which then allowed me to restore via the computer, which left me with a clean slate phone.
