Greetings,

So I have been a big fan boy for Apple's Silicone cases. Currently have my 7+ in the black one as we speak.

However, I am trying to find anyone that uses the Caudabe Sheath case here: https://www.caudabe.com/products/th...s?variant=29843691396#shopify-product-reviews

My question is, how does it compare to the Apple Silicone case in terms of feel?

More slippery? Less slippery. About the same?

Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

I use the Sheath but not tried the Apple cases. The open bottom is not for me.

I did previously use the black Liquid Armor by Spigen and although I loved the look of it, it was slippy in the hand.

The Sheath has a good grip to it and is slightly thinner too, thus easier to hold.

Being thin does make it more scratch protection than drop, but I'd definitely recommend it.

The Sheath is less grippy than Apple Silicone cases. but still provides more grip than the naked iPhone (unless it's JB version). I've never really liked the tackiness of the silicone cases though and they do attract a bit of lint.

It's also more flexible than the Apple case (it needs to be as you need to stretch it a little to fit it on your phone) and a lot thinner.

I still prefer the Sheath though as I like cases that provide minimal bulk and have never stuck to cases that have the bottom edge exposed. The camera cut outs on the Sheath are perfect and I wonder why more case manufacturers don't opt to have these sorts of cutouts as it helps with preventing dust getting between the case and the phone as well as being more aesthetically pleasing.

I agree with Pug72 that the Sheath is more for scratch or minor bump protection than anything else.

This. In my opinion, the only area the Apple Silicone case wins over the Sheath is grip. I think the Sheath offers more protection with the bottom being covered and it adds just enough bulk to eliminate the camera wobble when you lay it down. VERY small difference in size between a naked phone and the Sheath.

As a follow up, I use a thin metal plate for my magnetic car holder behind the case.

I wonder if that would cause the sheath to buldge out given the thin-ness. Hmmmm...

But thanks for all the replies. VERY helpful!

Yes it most probably would make the case bulge out a bit as the back is quite thin and flexible. I believe the Apple cases would do that too depending on the thickness and size of the plate.

RE the thin metal plates... You can sandwich one behind the Apple Silicone case without using the double side tape. However, you will need to use the tape to hold the plate in place if you get the sheath. Its not tight/rigid enough to keep the plate from moving. It will eventually move around between the phone and case.
