I just want to warn you guys before you make the same mistake I made!

I upgraded from the MBP (2018) in Space Grey color to the Silver Air.

Personally, I think my Space Grey is prettier but hey, that's my own fault cause I "wanted to try something new". That's not my biggest issue. The bigger problem is how light reflects on the raw aluminum.. especially artificial lights such as ceiling lamps. It's really bad. I can only speak from my own experience, but I find it so bright that it actually blinds me and take away my focus of the screen. The screen is supposed to be the bright thing to focus on, but all my eyes can see is the bright aluminum down at the keyboard/trackpad. The screen becomes dull in contrast. It's really not a pleasant experience. I wanted to show you examples, but it's too difficult for me to photograph or film. It doesn't translate on to the camera as the camera "neutralize" the brightness.

I don't have it in me to go through the process of returning it, and ordering a Space Grey.
I don't even think I can't. The rules here have a policy about sealed packages. I have to live with my choice now.

ps - Be aware that the keys are very matted compared to older models (in my case the butterfly keys) and its actually hard to wipe the keys clean.

where are you located? You cant bring it to an Apple store, get a refund, and then order another one?

If you truly cant return it, you can also get skins or a case, or both to help you with the issue of hurting your eyes
Scandinavia. And I ordered it through Apple's website.

My eyes are sensitive to light, I basically can’t go outside without sunglasses. All my macbooks have been silver and this has never been an issue for me. Are you using it in direct sunlight or something?
No, I was sitting inside in the office room at work.

To the OP: I have sensitive eyes and I need to wear dark glasses (prescription sunglasses) in bright sunlight and - moreover - I have sported spectacles since I was seven years of age; however, every Apple computer that I have had since I switched to the brand/company in 2008 (which is when and why I also joined this forum) has been silver, and, I assume, has been made from aluminium.

I've had silver aluminum MacBooks in the past, I know it's been 5 years but still. It feels very intense in artificial lightening.

Fair enough.

I will admit that - for the future - Apple computers in either Space Grey and Midnight Blue are attracting me, but, for now, I am still using my trusty MBA which comes in - came in - that aluminium silver.

How long have you had it? May be it will take time to transition since you hadn’t had silver for long time.

At first I laughed at the original post, because it seemed a bit weird thread. But then I realized that, if OPs silver MacBook is right under bright light, it could be a problem. In this scenarios, the midnight color is the best.

I’ve always been a silver fan, but my latest iPad Pro I bought it in Space Grey. If I had to buy a MacBook, maybe I’d get the space grey as well, the problem is that the space grey on the latest MacBook Pro looks like a bluish silver under direct light. I would like a darker space grey tbh.

TL;DR: if I had to buy a MacBook, I’m not sure what color I’d pick.

If you ordered it through Apple’s website, you have 14 days to ask for a return/refund. You can even explain them you’re not at home currently and maybe they can make an exception and let you return/change it a bit later. They sometimes make exceptions. I’d try.

If you’re going to be happier with a space grey MacBook, go ahead and give it a try.

I read their "rules" and it says they only accept unsealed products. I have to accept it for what it is. I'm gonna use it with a monitor in clamshell 95% of the time, so I'm gonna have to live with it. Maybe I'll upgrade it with M3 next year to a SP, even though it's a waste of money.... but thank you for your advice :)

This. I had it for a day, lol.
Yes, I know I'm a cry babe. And to every one "mocking" my post. I get it from your point of view, but I wish everyone would just let me be a little sour while transition. Maybe I'll buy a new SP next year, and waste my money on that. It'll be in clamshell 95% of the time, so I won't see its color that much.

I do think it's gorgeous when closed. I can appreciate its color in clamshell next to my Studio Display.

I like how your post pretty much treats this like people haven't seen a silver macbook during the last 20 or so years where it has been *the* standard color :)
Apple tweaked silver color in the past before. Not to mention there are different silver with intensity and whatnot (I don’t work with color so idk those fancy terms).
But you don’t see what I see so I could be wrong there.

You could possibly get some sort of matte covering for it too, if you're keeping it.

I think you are mis-interpreting something. The "unsealed" usually only refers to software that you have purchased. Does not apply to a Mac, within that 14 days, which can be for any reason, or no reason at all.
You have 14 days to notify Apple that you intend to return, then another 14 days to either return, or arrange for pickup of your Apple hardware. Must be returned with all included items, in the original package, but certainly does not need to be the original un-sealed package
I checked at UK Apple site, and I expect that would be the same anywhere in EU.

I think it's a fair thing to point out. It's one of the (relatively minor) reasons that I prefer the 14" MBP to the 16" - less glaring shiny silver in my face.
