I think the tough part is that since everything is bundled, cord cutters still pay 75% of their prior monthly cost for "just internet" now. It's not a bargain because cableco is gonna get you anyhow.

It's not just about having internet at home - it's having access to Live TV no matter where you are (including at home). So, I would hope that I'd be able to watch live "Apple Television" on my iPhone during my commute or lunch. Also, I can get adequate high-speed internet at home for around $30, so while an addition $30-$40 (plus other apps like Netflix) may seem like i'm not saving money, the experience would/should be worth it. I'd rather have a house full of AppleTVs than Cable Boxes.

I want a list of items with toggles on them, similar to how we toggle mail, contacts, calendars in our mail settings. One for each channel that offers streaming, and each one that i toggle is between 4.99 and 9.99/month.

CBS [x] 4.99
NBC [x] 4.99
CNN [x] 4.99
Live MLB with no local blackout BS [x] 9.99
Live NFL with no local blackout BS [x] 9.99
Fox [x] 6.66

...

list of 100 channels my cable provider offers me but I never watch because their crap [ ] 9.99

This would make me a happy panda

Pipe dream [x] Free

The Hulu app on Apple TV 4 is very slow

It is very slow on the ATV4. Visually it looks better than the ATV3 version, but it takes a really long time to load.

People make comments about ATV4's hardware being faster, but I have yet to see it.

Like you pointed out, it really depends on what is included on the service to see if it is worth the price.

A lot of people forget about STB fees for cable companies. The STB monthly fee for a large family could be more than the rumored cost of the Apple TV service.

$40 for 25 crap channels. No thanks. I'd rather pay Comcast $70 for 150 crap channels. Apple disappoints again.

Apple should have just bought a cable company to be done with this.... they rather hoard money than own a space I guess.

$35 seems too high. This on top of the Internet fee. Would I like to see is a list of 1000 channels and we can select from the list. They can have bundle pricings if we select like 10, 20, 50, 100, or more channels. I'm fearing these bundles that Apple is negotiating deals with the content providers that include channels not desired.

It depends what it includes. If this is live TV only, then this service will be DoA.

If it offers everything that is on Hulu, Amazon, and Netflix, except their originals of course, along with live TV, I think this service will be great.

Hard to say that Apple disappoints again when the service has not been anounced.

While I don't agree with the $35 being high, I love your bundle idea.

WTF is a "Hold Button"? Like on an old-style office phone from the 1970's? My goodness these media empire executives are certainly out of touch with today's technology...

For god's sakes.. how long does apple have to treat this as a hobby?!! Like with iCloud, when are they going to figure out how to do this right? Years and years go by and Apple TV is just a hobby and icloud remains a disaster!
The new AppleTV 4 is definitely a very good step from a hardware perspective. And the App Store is going to be the thing that makes this all worth while. Do we really need a subscription service to make Apple TV worthwhile - in my opinion NO!
With Hulu and Netflix, there really isn't much Apple could provide that would set them apart. What I would really like to see is something like Xfinity TV go being available on the ATV as an app that I can subscribe to. Cox, Time Warner and others. CBS, NBC, and ABC already provide apps (although mostly crap right now). But at some point everyone needs to get that the future is to provide their content through the apps. I have a Comcast box in some closet, but do not use it. I use my ATV and I connect to the apps (that require my comcast account to activate). But as more companies do like HBO and create a solo app, the consumers will have choices. The cable companies will be come a utility just providing the bandwidth. If they want to get ahead of the curve they better get those apps rolling out. Otherwise they will go the way of Nokia and Blackberry holding on to the past all the way to the grave.

Or they could just do to iTunes what they did with Music. A monthly subscription with unlimited streaming and local download of all the movies and tv shows in the iTunes Store. $14.99/mo or $19.99/mo with Music and I'm in.

Screw a live TV service. I want iTunes to become a Netflix competitor. #AppleTakeMyMoney

I actually agree with this. It seems like a no brainer to do what Apple did with Apple Music to iTunes Movies & TV. Do a $9.99/Mo 'All Access to iTunes Movies & TV Shows'. If people want live TV you could offer than as an extra $19.99/Mo.

It would be a streaming only service, then to download you'd need to purchase the movie. Maybe include 'free rentals' in the sense that you could download a movie but once you start watching you have 24 Hours to finish it before you need to purchase it.

This seems like the better way to go instead of Live TV. If they do want to include Live TV, it should be a separate Add-On to this streaming service.

For me it is not about the price but the experience. A DVR, two year contracts, massive expensive cable box, complex remotes, sorting through a million channels, to name a few. Cable is not a bad value if you use it and enjoy using 1970's technology.

I kind of like what Amazon is doing. Adding media subscriptions as an addition to Prime. Showtime and Starz are two big ones. Amazon discounts both $2 to $8.99 a month as part of Prime, no contracts, cancel anytime, pay for what you want. Other less known channels $5 a month. The plan is to add more subscriptions in the near future. Totally a la carte. Not perfect but a good start.

I hope Apple will just host for everyone and cut off the filthy rich middle man. If you're a musician and have a team and capable of composing you're own music. Apple should provide studios like Apple stores in most cities. Providing them top of the line equipments right in there and record their music. Sell the music straight to iTunes and musician will promote their own music through concerts and social media. Same with TV producers submit straight to iTunes. They can have an option either ad supported or buy only per season or per episodes. They do that on major networks anyways cut them of if the networks don't like the tv show after season 1. Leaving certain fans disappointed because some people love their show. With this it's up to the producer to continue to season 2 if release in iTunes or just sell it per episode it's their control not somebody deciding for them. I'm sure more creative musicians and movie and tv producers will love this. Instead of everybody trying to move to Nashville, Atlanta or Hollywood just to become singer or actors. I heard some of this talented people only get a few cents for every album sold and don't have the rights to their own music. That is crazy!

A $40 option is dead on arrival. People want a la carte channels, not another, slightly cheaper, bundle of shows they don't care about.

Not sure why I would pay $35 when commercial-free Hulu only costs $12. I get all the big network shows except for CBS. And I don't know of anything I'd want on CBS that I'd be willing to pay an extra $23 for.
You can get CBS for $7 a month I think it is. They have their own app on the store.

I think it would be nice, but I doubt it would ever happen at those prices.

Music is $10. $40 a month would be a more realistic price for an everything iTunes type service.

I think the reality is that more and more people could care less about cable. The kids that live around us spend most of their time on Youtube. During our last move, we decided to skip cable installation in our new place as an experiment, and, with Netflix, Hulu, Youtube and HBO, we have more than enough things to watch. Plus, you can hook up an HD antenna for occasional live network viewing.
