CSI and Survivor aren't what's important. The important thing is that CBS is now on iTunes. That means all four major networks are selling content through Apple.

The only major producer/distributors not on iTunes are Sony and Warner Brothers. Sony doesn't have much on network right now, but it does have the "Seinfeld" catalog and a bunch of game shows. WB has "ER," the "Friends" catalog and several other shows.

Fall TV should be really exciting for iTunes!

Lol, ain't that the truth. On a similar note, does anyone else feel the momentum of the iTMS slowing down? Sure there is more content than ever, but it seems less interesting now than before. I guess some of the novelty has worn off.
Which is why there is going to be a huge update soon to coincide with the release of the true video iPod.

The Google Video Store has all these shows already

The Google Video store started supporting the Mac last Tuesday, and they've already got all these CBS shows, and at better quality - widescreen not crappy 4:3.

No but the signal includes analog 5.1 in the stereo (I believe).

There's no such thing as analog 5.1. Analog TV audio is stereo, which can contain encoded Dolby Surround. A box with Dolby Pro Logic can make this into a 4.0 or 4.1 output. (There are no discreet surround channels in a Dolby Surround mix.)

Also, I'm not aware of any US broadcaster using 1080p. They are 720p or 1080i.

As for buying shows from iTunes or capturing them on my Mac and encoding manually, I don't have the money or time for that stuff. I just click a single button in TivoTool to convert from my TiVo to my iPod.

Dolby Surround 4.1 is right. Because we're watching the 1080i on our Mac's 24" 1920 x 1200 displays (Dell), an EyeTV Preference lets us display it as progressive even though the signal is interlaced. And when I rip it to mp4, I deinterlace it so it becomes native progressive in QuickTime. The 720p interpolates up to 1080p on the screen although it comes in 720p.

It's already over but you can watch the entire season for FREE at abc.com until the end of June.

Also Desperate Housewives, Commander In Chief, LOST episodes are FREE til then. I use zoom to fill my 1920 x 1200 screen with them. They play great with vey limited commercial interruptions during the first 26 minutes. Final 17 minutes run uninterrupted. :)
