Will CCC work on a non-Mac machine?

If not, can anyone recommend something comparable that would work on either Windows or Linux?

CCC is "Mac only".

For Windows there's something named "WinClone" (I know nothing more about it other than the name).

There's always cat, e.g.:
Code:
cat /dev/sdb >/dev/sdc

Though frankly this is exactly the wrong forum to ask.

No it isn't. I was hoping CCC could be used on other platforms, or that there might be one vendor/application that would work across OSs.

I guess not.

Sorry, no. As I recall CCC was written expressly to solve the problem of copying OSX (it previously was just drag-and-drop). For me, Linux and Windows backups are an occasional drag-and-drop of a vmwarevm file, and relying on SVN source control for the important stuff.

What about for Linux?
rsync.

In a production windows environment, we used Robocopy and Veritas which provided full and incremental backups across the network.

Is your question really "What is one backup solution that works across all platforms?" If so, I have no idea.

I just love CCC. And I had a friend who is a Windows guy ask me if he could use CCC, and I said I didn't think so. But it got me to wondering if there was a common app across Mac/Windows/Linux to do cloning.

I guess that was wishful thinking! :)
