Ccleaner, for Mac

I've used Ccleaner for years, on both Mac and Windows. They recently COMPLETELY changed the interface. Now it's giving me the option of DELETING APPS, which is insane, Apps that I use all the time. Obviously, I'm not going to, I'm just puzzled why that would even be an option. Ccleaner be like 'hey, you can recover a lot of disc space by deleting those pesky apps!". Instead, I deleted Ccleaner. Any recommendations of alternatives to Ccleaner?

I think you've already found the alternative to CCleaner that most here would recommend, that is, deleting it and letting macOS take care of itself. It really does a good job on its own. In the past, some kind of Cleaner was needed for Windows, but I don't know if that's still the case.

The real question is: what problem do you need to solve?

Same for any so-called utility. Unless there is a specific issue to solve...less is more.

I used it for years on my PCs and Macs. I just did a round of e-mail with their customer service to see if I could get the old dashboard back. It's gone so I cancelled and got a refund.

Have a look at Onyx. I've used it, seems ok..
