My CD burner will no longer burn CD's as it says the laser is not calibrated and this warning shows up.

"The attempt to burn a disc failed. The device failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media"

I had the motherboard changed about 4 months ago and this is the first time since that I have tried to burn anything could this be linked or is it something else?

Can I do anything about it or is it going to cost me my other arm and leg?

Thanks all.

Could be a dirty laser lens. Try running a CD lens cleaner disc in the drive.

Also, googling the error message brings up quite a few results.

try a different brand of cd's. yours has to much silver coating on them. this is standard eror on mac when the laser has to much reflection.

Try different media.

Try boot up from a clean OS install to see if that would help.

If neither works, then time for warranty repair.
