Hi i want to burn an audio book to disc.the audio book is 619.5mb and the blank cd is 700mb but when i try to burn it i'm told that it can't fit on one cd as you can imagine there might only be 5 mins on the next cd,why won't it fit when the cd is larger than the file and is there any way i can make it fit, i have tried a data cd but it does not play on my car player

700MB CD is translated from 1 MB = 1000 KB while Macs use 1 MB = 1024 KB

Therefore, the actual translated capacity is 700/1.024 = 683 MB

However, due to Redbook CD specs, you need to finalize the CD and this roughly consumes several MB of space thus the app is saying you can't fit the 619.5 MB data

When burning an audio CD you need to look at the length of audio in minutes. Your Cd should hold 80 minutes of uncompressed 16 bit stereo audio. Your audio book file will be some sort of compressed format which is why it can hold more than 80 minutes and be less then the regular data capacity of a cd.

OP:

Does your car player have the capability to play "mp3" CDs, as well as "regular" audio CDs?

I don't know what format an "audio book" file is (perhaps someone could clarify), but if it's mp3 -- just create an mp3 CD.

If it's another format that IS NOT mp3, you might try converting it to mp3 format, and then burning THAT to an mp3 CD.

An excellent tool to do such conversion is called "ALL2MP3".
Again, I don't know what format audio books are, or if ALL2MP3 could support that.

But it's worth a try.

The audio books are from Audible which i understand are a pain to convert to mp3 unless you know better
