so, within the last week i have changed out my x1900 card for a hd 5850, refreshed my ram with 4 gb sticks instead of 2 to total 24g, & popped in a 256g ssd into a pci slot this afternoon. very happy with photoshop & lightroom being peppy!

however, during my install procedure - having to restart a few times trying to get my home folder redirected, i can no longer restart easily. . . .i restart my mp 1,1 & it remains black & i hear a funny noise. .. .a noise i worried was my bay drives.

come to listen closer, it is one of the optical drives. it sounds like it is trying to read from media. . .but there is no disc in the drive. it will just click or make that weird reading noise, then stop, the pick back up again & never boot. i have to hold down the power & then with all the new goods installed, i am up in a minute or so like nothing happened. any refresh of software or directory change is done as if i restarted, but i had to force it to shut down & can no longer start from a restart via this optical bay doing - whatever it's doing.

any thoughts? i am stumped 😕
