I am trying to import my 2 CD set 'Apocalypse Now' Soundtrack into iTunes but all it imports are tiny 44kb pointer files and not the actually songs. I have tried opening the CD in explorer and dragging the files directly to my desktop but again only these shortcuts and not the actual files are moved. Is this possibly down to some kind of copy protection? I can't seem to 'see' the actual files so I can't play the tracks withouth the CD's present, :(

Is it sometimes not possible to get tracks off a CD and onto your computer? These are original CDs.

Thanks....

Find someone with a Mac; that might help.
In some cases, find someone with an _old_ Mac, I had one CD that my MacBook ejected immediately whenever I pushed it in, and my five year old PowerMac G4 imported it with no problems.
If all fails, return them to the shop making the biggest possible stink. If your PC can't read it, then it is NOT a CD.
