CD player in catalina

Has any one had problems with portable CD players not working with catalina installed, the reason I ask is that my CD player will not work since catalina was installed, or is this just a coincidence and my CD player has packed up.

Are you able to try it on another computer to test if it still works and Catalina is not the problem? Try different cables if you can. What brand is the Portable CD player?

Like a USB disc drive? I haven't experienced any issues? What exactly is happening?

tried it on another Mac using different os wouldn't work so it must be broken not very good as it has only been used 3/4 times in the 18 months I've had it.

Yeah that's a shame, you could try another USB cable if you have one handy, sometimes the cables fail but the device is fine.

Stupid question, but...
Have you tried several different CDs/DVDs in the drive?
Just to be sure it wasn't a bad disc?

It's amazing how often the cable is to blame for problems. Ethernet, USB, and particularly Lightning cables.
