CD vs. DVD - does iDVD care?

If I have a project that's less than 700 MB, will it make any difference if I use a CD as opposed to a DVD? In other words, will the disc still work in a set top DVD player?

as far as I know you cannot use a CD to burn a DVD that will work in a DVD player...

Well i know you should be able to burn an SVCD instead of a DVD. I just don't know if iDVD supports this.

I do not believe iDVD supports SVCDs.
