CD won't burn

I'm trying to burn a CD and I've received twice now:

"The attempt to burn disc failed. The burn failed because of a medium write error."

What is that and how do I correct it???

What kind of CD-Rs are you using? I have found that certain brands do not work. Usually Memorex is the way to go, cheap but good quality.
