I am looking for recommendations on affordable indoor ceiling fan with lights that is compatible with HomeKit or Matter that I can use with the Apple Home app.

Ideally, I would like a modern style/look.

My suggestion... get the fan you want, and add a homekit relay/switches to make it smart.

You will have much more flexibility this way, and many more options available to you when it comes to fixtures.

Lutron Caseta product line is a good place to start.

Hunter HomeKit fans. I have three of them and are some of my most stable accessories out of 100+.

They used to be bad. Connectivity issues but they’ve since updated the WiFi module and they’re rock solid, stable, quick response. They also come with HomeKit supported dimmable lights.

what switches/relays? Do these work just on lights or do they also work with the fan module?

For Caseta you need one for the fan controls and one for the lights.

I would suggest the dimmer bundle:
P-BDG-PKG1W

And the smart fan module:
PF-FSQN-WH-R
