i currently am on att grandfather plan. I’m paying about $95/month and was considering switching over to cricket Wireless. I noticed they have a unlimited plan for $60/month and wanted to switch to that. My question is has anyone switched to cricket? What did you think of it? Just wanted to get some opinions before I make the leap.

Thank you!

Dont know if I can help you with that question and I both work for and have AT&T for myself but Cricket does use AT&T's towers it it going to come down to how AT&T's coverage is in San Francisco. Having been in San Francisco myself recently, I had no issues with AT&T so I dont suspect you'll have any issues with Cricket service in the same area.

Only difference is if a large tourist crowd comes in, fleet week, pride, etc.. you most likely will see a serious decline in speed, not service. As it is a second tier carrier, At&t will prioritize its customers in the city first before allocating bandwidth to cricket. This will apply to anywhere you go with a massive crowd, such as sporting events, or disneyland.

That is correct, AT&T will have priority when it comes to data speeds.

Yes I heard att bought out/owns cricket. That’s is why I’m leaning towards joining them. Just not too sure about speeds and reception. I was also thinking about Tmobile but haven’t heard that many positive things about them

If the price is what you want, drop down to the unlimited choice plan offered by AT&T. It too is $60. Granted you get I believe 3mb “LTE” speeds but Cricket itself is capped by AT&T somewhere around 8mb.

Yeah I was looking at those new att plans as well. The only thing is that crickets prices already includes taxes and fees, while the att ones, I believe do not. The only thing I’m worried about is how well the reception is in my house and the upload/download speeds with cricket. But since they use att towers, I assume I shouldn’t have to worry too much right?

Go online and look at their coverage map. That’s about as absolute as you can get without actually using their network. I had Cricket about a decade ago where the only place it worked was in your home city. Lol

You can test your current LTE speed with AT&T (please post it here) with the Speedtest.net app. As someone has said, Cricket's speed is capped at 8 mbps.

I have Straight Talk (the AT&T compatible version) with uses TracFone Wireless cellular which in turn is also on AT&T's network. I get over 30 mbps and this is one reason I haven't switched to Cricket.

This is what I got! Wow I guess crickets network would be quite a bit slower. Weird cuz I have a few coworkers who switched over to cricket and i could barely notice the difference!

Drop the grandfathered plan pick a family plan that covers the amount of data you really use and it will reduce your bill without hurting your service.
