You don't want to hear this, but I agree with others who say get something cheap and reliable. My experience in high school is that valuable things will get lost, damaged, or stolen.

I agree. I am going into college in a couple of weeks and i don`t have a cell phone. All through HS i never needed one. And i was on the baseball team, golf team, and track. If you get a schedule of your sports and tell yopur paretns ahead of time they can probably be there to pick you up. I usually just told them ahead of time and they sat in the parking lot until i got there.

And if you do get a phone, get a cheap one. Things tend to get stolen in HS, i know this for a fact. My junior year i took calculus and had to buy a TI-89 calculator (about $130ish right now, i think). Well anyway, i left it in my locker for one period came back and it had been stolen. I was so pi$$ed. I went to the principle (not very much help), but he did tell me to just open up lockers during lunch to see if i could find it. I had had the calculator for about 2 whole weeks. I ended up finishing the first half of the year without a calcultor, which is a real pain in the a$$. I also had to save up and buy a new one on my own. So , when you put stuff in your locker make sure to lock it!!!

I am one of those people that does everything imaginable under the sun, and I tell you, a cell phone is something I rely on. A lot of times, I go to ASB things that are over "when we finish"...well...thats not the best bet for a pick up time, and my parents don't/won't wait out in a parking lot for hours for me to finish. A cell phone is almost essenital in these cases. I've also needed it in a few emergencies. You may remember the huge SoCal fires back in 2003...well....I was in school at the time, and the fire was getting closer and closer. We ended up having to evacuate. My phone was vital in keeping contact with my parents and giving them the latest info as to where I was, since they kept sending the buses we were on somewhere else.

I have a Samsung A700, and I love it. I keep a close eye on my phone, and I always make sure I have it after I stand up or walk down stairs (just to make sure). Its always on me whenever I leave the house, and I never put it down on a table or anything. I had to pay for the actual phone myself (my parents pay for my service since it only costs them 15 bucks a month and I use it really only to talk to them anyway).

Times have changed, and cell phones are now something everyone almost needs. Espically when you can't drive yet are becoming more and more independent.

What a waste of money. A better cell phone. Other than it being lighter and maybe a longer abttery life, it sin't worth it. Its all about glitz and thats just a waste of money.

ok heres my take, im 19.. just left highschool, ive had flip phones, straight phones, razrs, etc.. coming from a yuppy town with to much money.. all my friends had phones too.. also. os the whole stealing thing wasnt big but it happened. i played three varsity sports, and did lots of extracurriculer activities, so to set things straight.. i think a cell phone is a good thing to have around in case of emergencys,,, specially once u get a car.. but seeing ur 15 basically thats next year..

my take on phones is that flip phones are killers.. they dont have as good reception as some of the others.. i just got a sick nokia camera phone which is clutch. plus ur gonna drop it... i gaurentee it... its gonna happen... i do it all the time geting out of my car or some ****.. flip phones break like no other.. the raZr u can get for free yes... but it doesnt perfom nearly as well as others.. and yes... people are gonnna be attracted to it.

i think u should get a stable, high reception, high battery, for ur first phone,, and move from there.. just remember.. its gonna be bangin around in bags..pockets,, etc... so be careful.. and get insurance

The above post was pretty accurate...not necessarily about reception (the Razr is very good)

But if you want a great, all around reliable phone, pick up a Nokia 3220 or 6230 if you want a camera. Both great and tough little phones.

Get one that is a tank. I have a blue Motorola, and that thing has lived through everything.
