From a safety perspective, you probably should have something with you. You never know when you might need to call for help. I always think if I have a heart attack or get hit by a car at least my wife can come find me.
If you are the type of person who ALWYAS carry your iPhone, then I think you might be able to get away going non-cellular. But for those of us who sometimes "forget" to carry ours, then I think cellular is a must. It really depends on your electronics habits.I have the cellular version and still debating on getting activated. Verizon wants to charge me one time $40 for the so call activation fee 🤬
