My Dad finally upgraded his 8+ year old iPad Pro to an M2 iPad Air (both cellular), and I'm trying to transfer his AT&T plan to the new device, but the Transfer option says both devices need to be on iPadOS 17 or later. His old iPad is stuck on the latest available OS of 16.7.8.

Is there a recommended alternative to easily get his plan transferred? Or should we just cancel the old plan and start a new one?

You will probably need to reach out the carrier and let them do a QR code style transfer for it to work. Dont cancel the old plan unless you want to get him Into a new plan.
