Me and my Mom got iPhone 12 pros today from apple. I haven’t made one call and the timer keeps growing. Same with my moms phone. Not one call and her timer is growing. Are they adding stuff to it now besides phone calls?

Call time is from the last reset.
The Lifetime is from when you set up your iPhone.
Scroll down to the last item in that cellular settings list.
What is the date of the Last Reset?

I got my present iPhone in August 2019, replacing another iPhone, which was the first iPhone that I purchased.
My Last Reset date is May 19, 2015 - the date that I first set up my original iPhone. I have not ever chosen to Reset Statistics, so my Call Time is from two iPhones back. I factory restore my iPhone several times a year, but I always import from a backup, and have not ever set up a Phone As New, since that first setup on my original iPhone.
So, if you did not set up your 12 Pro as new, but imported a backup from a previous iPhone, then that carries over.

I did set it up as new. NEVER from a backup and I have call time. I’m wondering if it’s from my iPads FaceTime calls. I swear I didn’t make one call and it had that. Same with my momma.

Nope that’s not it. No timer on the iPad.

On the phone with apple is Australia. I’m in New York. This should be interesting.

that's carried over from the old phone with the sim card, isn't it?

Nope new SIM card. I think I figured it out.
Could the iCloud using cell when not in Wi-Fi be the culprit????

That would be data usage not calling time usage.

Then where can these times be coming from. Apple said it might have to do with the iCloud Drive that’s why I pointed at that. So confused. Help :)

Is your Apple ID used on any other devices?

Well considering I paid for a BRAND NEW PHONE that’s what I want is BRAND NEW! Not some demo or someone using it before I did. If there is a chance I was sent two beta phones I want to exchange them. I have a right to know why there is time on my phones. No?

It sounds like you logged in with your Apple ID that was being used on previous iPhones? Perhaps that data got carried over through iCloud?

Yea. iPad, one other iPhone SE, CarPlay, and Apple watch series 6 and MacBook Air

Calling data from the other iPhone or perhaps other devices that are used for calling might be in play there.

That wouldn’t happen from a demo. That info is reset if you wipe the phone.

Makes no sense to me. There is no concrete answer online and apple support is baffled

Might be getting usage information from the carrier. I don’t see call usage on mine but it gets data usage from the carrier under cellular settings.

I only made 1 call with mine (also set up as new) and it shows 12 hours. The last reset was Oct 15??

So I’m not crazy. Well I am but not this time. Thank you for answering me

Brand new iPhone. Lots of Call Time.
Why would that NOT be on your cell carrier?
Should show up on your cell activity record, as a sudden spike in the last few days.
If your cell provider shows that increase, then that's it.
If there is no noticeable increase at your cell provider, then it's your AppleID/iCloud activity.
BUT, that should be a change in data, not call time.

I think it is just a bug in the call time reporting, if your cell provider does not show equivalent activity, then do a "Reset Statistics" - it's underneath that Call Time listing.

Wait, you called Apple in Australia, and you are in New York?
Is your cell provider also in Australia?
What sort of roaming charges are you accumulating as a result of high call time?
If none - there's likely not much to be concerned at this point.
The Reset Statistics will give you a base number to go from, assuming a glitch or bug that not many have noticed, and also assuming that you have not been horribly unlucky, and got TWO iPhones that were heavily used as test phones, with lots of actual call time. Not bloody likely, eh?

I’m a night owl brother. I call the 1800 number and got redirected to Australia.
I was being a wiseass.
