So I am currently on BT Mobile in the UK with a non-cellular AW6 - I pay 10 quid a month for 8 Gb of 5G data but currently they are doubling that for free but I never get through more than 8. As I swim every day now I am thinking of going for a celluar AW7 next week but I am puzzled by the offers from O2, EE and Vodafone as advised on the Apple site. I see I will have to swap off BT as they dont offer any apple watch plans. I am wondering what you lot in the UK are currently on and what you pay ? I think I see EE charge an extra 5 for the plan and Vodafone 7 ?

Pretty much. It’s always been a bit of a faff when I’ve upgraded watches. Every time I need to call them to transfer across… but first time out it should be ok.

I have switched from EE to O2 as they currently have the cheapest watch tarrif. Vodafone And EE were both offering £7 per month O2 is £5 and unlimited data on the watch.

So you had to swap your phone contract too ? You can’t just have the 5 pound plan with O2 and your phone contract with someone else ?

Thats correct, I thinknof it as the watch “piggybacking” on the iPhone sim. As long as they are on the same network and your iPhone is powered on and has a connection to said network, you are good to go 👍

Yeah they need to link. You want to be reachable on the same number irrespective of whether your phone is on or off

Once you have the watch plan you don't need the phone powered on two use the watch sim. I have on numerous times had the phone turned off and the watch works fine on cellular to make and receive calls, iMessages etc.

You do though (which is what i think you are saying) need the watch to be on the same network in order to have the same number as the phone. I am with EE and have the £5 add on - as others have said a faff to upgrade, but works flawlessly.

I’m waiting to get the S7 cellular but was under the impression that the phone needs to be on but my bad, thanks for the clarification 👍

I think I will skip the upgrade and wait for next the next one as have a 6 - I can quite easily use this for my swims so my watch still works fine rather than getting a cellular one.
