As someone else mentioned and as I just remembered, if you bought an Apple device from Apple (I don’t think it works for used devices from other sources), you’ve got a year for free. With only 13 episodes, if they do one a week for 13 weeks, then you could see them all. And not pay a thing. And, if you buy a new device next year (say, this year, you got an iPhone, next year you upgrade your Mac) you continue Apple TV+ for free.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you won't be able to add on another year. At least not on the same ID.

"Only one offer per Apple ID and only one offer per family if you’re part of a Family Sharing group, regardless of the number of devices you or your family purchases. "

Allll the way down on the bottom, footnote #2 https://offers.appletvapp.apple/ or

Oh! Thanks :) Didn’t know that. But, I’d doubt there are very many paying for it currently. We’ll see what Apple TV’s numbers look like next year!

I get what you're saying and agree with you. Just wanted to pile on about Spotify signing the Joe Rogan podcast as exclusive to them. That sucks. I've never even listened to that podcast and don't plan to, but then came the story on MacRumors that as a reactionary measure to Spotify, Apple is shopping for exclusive podcasts too. So it's begun. I don't have the time or patience to keep up with where to find certain tv shows and movies. I really didn't want to add podcasts to that too.

I switched out of Apple Music and went to Podcasts exclusively about 2yrs ago. If I have to start subscribing to outlets to get what I've always had for free because they're trying to gain marketshare, then I'll find other alternatives or means of getting them. The rich get richer...

Still, there’s no way they would have created 13 episodes by now. They MAY have created 6

Why 6 episodes?

If it takes 24 weeks to make an episode... and the entire 13 episode season of Central Park is 13 weeks... they are obviously making multiple episodes at a time... ahead of time.

But I don't know why they would only have 6 episodes ready today when they need to have episode 7 completed just 7 weeks from now.

I'm sure the episodes are staggered and are in various stages of completion over many months. But still... the time to make one episode is almost twice as long as the entire season takes to air.

I would say the entire season is done already. But I'm just speculating here. :p

I hate that it's Apple exclusive. Thanks to this fact, I'll have to find "other" means of watching it. Exclusive media encourage these alternative methods.

For the angry emoji's, here's my fact checking references, since facts speak louder than opinions. Some refer to music, but the same can be said for all digital media.

Why would Apple make a show and put it on another platform?

Do what you wish.

The kids who pirate would never pay in the first place. Very little real revenue is lost. Roughly equivalent to the Hackintosh situation.

Oh, that was just a random number less than 13. :D I’d guess that after the deal was signed, there would be some time to get the right folks on board (a new showrunner was added a couple months after the deal) then get started working. So, they likely don’t have 13 episodes ready to go today. What if they have two left to do and both are going to still take another month or so (11 months being almost 3 months)? I guess they could release 2 episodes, then 7 episodes then the 3 final episodes...

I actually much prefer 1 episode a week schedule. It gives me a time to reflect and talk about it with my friends and coworkers, without risking spoilage. Talking about Netflix original almost always start with "how far did you watch" and ends with someone saying "oh, you will soon see".

And it makes watching each episode feel more like an event and something to look forward to. It's not like there aren't other shows and movies to watch.

With smaller selection of contents, one-a-week is the right strategy for Apple TV+. With COVID-19, it will likely take longer to complete an episode from now on. So this will help creators stretch their production schedule.

Same. Out of all the release models, I prefer the 3 episode drop followed by weekly. If you want to binge watch through the whole thing, then wait until all the episodes are released.

I've started noticing people who I know don't have any Apple products seeking out some of the AppleTV+ shows, and some of them are appearing on torrenting forums, most notably Mythic Quest. I think this show will be the same, specially for fans of Bob’s Burgers. This is a good thing. AppleTV+ is starting to gain public awareness.

As much as streaming services like Netflix might hate people pirating their shows, I think that Apple is secretly happy with it. They need pirates to help popularize their shows outside of their usual customers. Those pirates were never going to buy an AppleTV or subscribe to the service anyway. Everyone else who isn’t a cheapskate (it’s five bucks!) will subscribe.

i used to watch orange is the new black. Netflix dropped the whole season at once. I’d watch them in a week then have to wait a year to see the next ones. By the time the third season rolled around, I had lost any investment in the show and stopped watching.

Kind of ironic considering Central Park was created by bulldozing people’s homes and businesses in order to enhance the property values of those who lived near the park.

Ironic how? But, also, that fact is actually mentioned in the first episode.

The problem I have is that I get into something more the more I watch it. If I’ve just watched something my interest in the next episode is at its peak and I want to watch it right now. That interest wanes over the course of the week as the memory fades and the events of the previous episode become less relevant in my mind.

1) they mention that in the show
2) that’s not what “ironic” means

I assume they mean the premise of the show is ironic. That premise being the defenders of Central Park are portrayed as the innocents and the underdogs, whilst its enemies are the ruthless real estate investors. This being the opposite situation from the foundation of Central Park. That’s exactly what “ironic” means.

You can turn that around and say if they release all at once but you want to watch one a week then watch one a week.

I don't mind it if the service is predicated on it, but with Apple TV+ we never know what show will give us all the eps at once or dole them out once a week. Pick a method and stick with it.

I wonder if they do it if the show might have seasonal episodes. Like maybe a 4th of July one is in the works or something like that. I just think of similar shows, like South Park, and notice they have episodes like that.

My issue with the series, is that the songs feel juxtaposed against the story. On Bob's Burgers, the songs seem natural. With Central Park, they feel like they made the script and songs separate, then they pieced it together in post.

Based on the apparent positive comments and posted reviews, I am assuming that with the youtube trailer they deliberately chose to leave out the funny bits?

This didn’t look terribly interesting to me, however, lots of the above comments say it’s decent so maybe I’ll give it a shot.

You have zero right to any media content.
You are a thief. Your attempts to justify don’t change the fact you are stealing something that doesn’t belong to you. By the same logic if you don’t agree to sell me something you own I’m justified in stealing it.

What’s your point? These aren’t “facts” you cited. They are opinions. And opinions like “exclusive drive people to piracy” doesn’t mean that piracy is ok. That logic would be like saying if someone charges too much for a car that you want then it’s okay to just steal it.

I watched the first 2 eps yesterday and enjoyed them. Nothing earth shattering. Ut a fun watch, and some differntiation vs other animated shows with the musicality of it with often ridiculous / funny lyrics (Leslie Odom Jr is amazing, and even Josh Gad is decent enough).

I also prefer the non-binge platform in some ways. Gives something to look forward to, for shows that get bigger, the shared experience of waiting / watching together with the collective others is enjoyable. Like Game of Thrones was, or The Last Dance Michael Jordan docuseries that just finished up on Netflix.

Yes. I hope Apple moves to the three episode drop followed by weekly releases for all future shows. I HATE bingeing shows and I am still angry at Netflix for introducing that scourge on humanity. And people wonder why children these days have such short attention spans.
