Centris 650 Reboot Problem

I've just tried to reboot my old Centris 650 to check that it still works. Hasn't been used for 9-10 years. Midway through startup it asked me to activate Appletalk via the Chooser - I clicked OK but there is no progress with the startup. As I can't access the Chooser until the startup is complete, is there some shortcut to get the Mac OS to boot up?

just FYI a centris 650 is not powerpc, and more of those questions will get a better response, maybe quicker in the apple collector section.
