Hey all,

So I got a new S4 Apple Watch and I noticed a light scratch on back ceramic plate’s outer ring. The scratch cannot be seen in direct light without viewing from a certain angle. It’s not really a big deal but I was wondering if this normal or happened to anyone else?

Thanks!

It’s obviously not ‘normal’, because if it was, then it wouldn’t be there in the first place. But just to get to the point, if it doesn’t affect the heart rate sensor/accuracy of the heart rate, then it’s really nothing to be concerned about, as it’s a watch, and inadvertent damage can happen.

Are you sure its not residue from something that rubbed off onto the watch? Try rubbing it out with some cleaner wax like you would use on car paint. I’ve had a couple instances where I thought I had scratched my sapphire screen but it always rubs out with cleaner wax (yes I know it may rub the oleophobic coating) and wasn’t a scratch at all.
