2022 - 2026 = 4 years. Also, the U1 is still supported (i.e. not obsolete).

The U1 is not discontinued. It just doesn‘t get the new OS. Not the same thing.

Also, all of this has nothing to do with ceramic. Like it or not, the whole AI (in our case, Apple Intelligence) stuff is taxing on all our computers, and only the Watches with the latest chip (S9-11, U2-3) are able to run it in a way that Apple considers acceptable.

Can you imagine your expensive U1 does get watchOS 27 and gets slow as f***? Better to keep running OS 26 just as you do today. Most folks don‘t give a damn about AI on the Watch (or at all) anyway
