That's what a 3DS or PSP is for?! LOL
These iPhone games are completely laughable really. They are just time wasters. The real games are all on the handheld systems with a real dpads.

Aren't all games time wasters? Unless someone's pay you to play, of course.

Now if they make one of these cabinets with a KNOB instead of just buttons, I'll really get my Tempest on!!

No. Not all games are time wasters. Some are. For instance fast games. Some are not. For instance. Games with a plot and stories.
Funny, I thought it was the reverse.

Some people seem to be freaking out because they think they're going to have to go out and buy one of these things; That if these become popular then all the games are going to require them in the future. I don't believe that'll be the case at all. Throughout the history of gaming one consistent aspect has been that the developers nearly always support, first and foremost, the controls that come with a system. After all those are the only controls the device's owners are guaranteed to have. Not supporting them thus limits ones potential audience. So please don't worry. At least 99% of the time when these kind of controls are implemented it will simply be as an option. Much like how you don't need an external keyboard to type in iOS. It's just there as an option.

Games with stories are just advanced time wasters. Better at it.

The Mobile will be mine. Oh, yes.

Bulky and Expensive

Why pay for these accessories when you can use JoyPad or BrassMonkey?

Joypad turns your iphone into a game controller (currently on select games).

Same with Brass Monkey...

These guys really need to hire a good product designer for their future products (and fire their current one...)

Because these are for people who want physical controls. I'm sorry, but touchscreen controls are not ideal for every game. And besides, not every iPad owner owns an iPhone (or iPod touch) to begin with.

It looks like Ion is taking the iCade to the next level. I'm planning in getting one but I have a question:

Is the iCade future proof? Can its firmware be updated should Apple break something in an iOS update?

The iCade basically emulates a BT keyboard. They can't break support without also breaking support for the latter.
