The Apple Watch may not be launching for a few more months, but that hasn't stopped accessory makers from showing off their ideas at CES this week. iOS device stand and accessory maker Standzout is one of the early entrants, announcing its upcoming Bandstand docking station and showing off prototypes of the accessory at CES. The new Bandstand dock was designed from the ground up for Apple's upcoming Watch, offering both a watch stand and charging functionality in a single dock.

The new Bandstand dock features a pivoting platform that will securely hold the Watch and allow users to adjust the angle of the display for optimal viewing. More than just a holder, the Bandstand will support induction charging of the Apple Watch using Apple's upcoming cable while also providing a pair of USB ports for charging additional devices. Though the device is on display at CES, pricing and availability details are not yet available as the company will need to finalize the design to ensure compatibility as more information on Apple Watch becomes available.

The Bandstand claims to be the "first great Apple Watch accessory", but it certainly won't be the last. With Apple Watch's launch approaching, other vendors are no doubt preparing their offerings and will be making announcements in the coming weeks and months.

Crazy idea...

Have it charge the watch and the iPhone at the same time.

All I need is yet another charging item on my nightstand.

*edit*
I meant to say, "Have a nice place to put my iPhone and charge it" as well.

2nd Edit:
After re-looking at this, I think it does answer my problems...
Charge the watch on top, and the iPhone on the base. There are a couple of USB ports on the charging thing below the base that can be used for a Lightning Cable.

Iphone on the base, :apple: Watch on the arm. It's starting to grow on me. I'll update my original objection with the new revelation.

Too small. I'll wait for the grand father's clock accessory where I can put and forget my Apple watch.

When did a "watch stand" become a thing?

This isn't a two-in-one product. It's an :apple:Watch charger that holds it so you can see it.

THIS.

I don't get why anyone would make a dock which isn't also an iPhone dock. You need an iPhone to use the watch, so surely a combined one is massively wanted?

indeed.

on another note, interesting set up.
how do you find ableton on the dual core surface pro?
im sick of lugging around my 15" and am wondering if 13" class cpus are in a place now to handle real legit daws.

With DAWs on the SP it really depends on how many channels you need and if you're doing live audio with a lot of input channels I don't know if it'll bottleneck.

My use case = at most 4 active MIDI input channels so I have no problems.

Screen is small but I dock it next to my controllers when I'm home. I'm just happy I can use a desktop grade DAW in such a portable piece of hardware.

Minus the additional charging ports, the Moto 360 comes with Qi charging in a vertical position as well, sits on my nightstand so it is completely visible.

100%.

I've never used any sort of dock for my iPhone (in 6.5 years), but if/when I get an Apple Watch I would love to have some sort of a combo convenience docking station for both devices.

especially because I feel like the Apple Watch is a device that I would definitely want to have sort sort of a docking station for. Can't quite put my finger on it, but letting it sit loose just feels sort of odd and tacky.

Far from the first as it's not on the market yet. Others have announced very similar stands and some have even taken pre-orders.

Watch stands have been around forever. Some of them even feature movement which keep self-winding watches (motion) wound up when they aren't being worn.
