The Bandstand claims to be the "first great Apple Watch accessory"...

Yet more proof that "first" has zero correlation with "best."

Especially when the manufacturer doesn't even provide actual photographs of the product.
Just mashing up an "artists' conception" isn't quite good enough.

There used to be a word for that: "vaporware."

The obvious solution is to ship some kind of clock radio with iPhone dock *and* Apple Watch charger.

Oh. Wait. Did I post that before my Kickstarter proposal got accepted?
Oops.

I hope Fuz makes one to go with my Everdock Duo: http://fuzdesigns.com/pages/EverDockDuo

I figured this would happen which is one reason why I'm not worried about charging my watch nightly... I already put my iPad and iPhone on the Everdock every night to charge... what's one more device?

I'm just wondering what will happen when u have a sleuth of accessories lined up, but then the Apple Watch is failure....

I'll be laughing so dang hard, i'll be in stitches..

Everyone needs to get their stuff out there, with one simple mind "it will be a success."

No one bothers to even think "... what if it's not" or "i'll wait" ??

And that's not a one track mind ??

So bulky and space consuming so what's the point? How about inductive charging wrist pad or mat that charges it on your wrist while working on the computer.

CES 2015: Bandstand Dock Leads Accessory Makers' Apple Watch Push

"... first great apple watch accessory..."
-->
... first horrible apple watch accessory ...

is that like a kitchenAid - having a ridig motor for cream whipping?

100%.

I've never used any sort of dock for my iPhone (in 6.5 years), but if/when I get an Apple Watch I would love to have some sort of a combo convenience docking station for both devices.

especially because I feel like the Apple Watch is a device that I would definitely want to have sort sort of a docking station for. Can't quite put my finger on it, but letting it sit loose just feels sort of odd and tacky.

After re-looking at this, I think it does answer my problems...
Charge the watch on top, and the iPhone on the base. There are a couple of USB ports on the charging thing below the base that can be used for a Lightning Cable.

Iphone on the base, :apple: Watch on the arm. It's starting to grow on me. I'll update my original objection with the new revelation.

THIS.

I don't get why anyone would make a dock which isn't also an iPhone dock. You need an iPhone to use the watch, so surely a combined one is massively wanted?

I'd rather buy into just a pad I could set the watch down on. I understand Apple's reasoning with the magnetic deal but it's yet another thing I have to remember to "plug in".

This thing? I feel it's for showing off another igadget. This doesn't add any functionality to charging IMO. Would look good in a jeweler's case though.

Oh well. As far as I can tell, the Apple Watch wouldn't enrich my life nearly enough for me to drop $300+ on it. Not initially anyway.

It's a total gamble. Being one of the first to have accessories for a product (which ends up being successful) can be a huge boon to business.

The risk here isn't that immense, anyway. Not for a company that already makes other such products. Presumably they won't make millions straight out the door and can ramp up production as needed.

Also, as popular as other smart watches are (many don;t work at all with iOS), I don't see the Apple Watch being a complete flop, regardles of how little interest I have in owning one.

This would be more useful if it charged the iWatch while you were wearing it.

I'm with that...

Why would u wanna take off a wearable to charge it ? I don't wear watches now since i rely on my smartphone for that, but before when i did, i never took it off.

It would be such a pain to take things off, just so u can charge it. But seems that's where we're headed.

Bandstand? I already have a NightStand* :D

*Compatible with all 3rd party devices, books, lamps, alarm clocks, mugs, etc.

Watch stands have been around forever. Some of them even feature movement which keep self-winding watches (motion) wound up when they aren't being worn.
Sorry. I meant "When did watch stands becomes a thing that regular people actually bought and used?"

I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum. Why would I want to go back to wearing a wearable again? I haven't been very interested in wearing a watch (or other functional jewelry) since I discovered clothes with pockets. Maybe I'm just waiting for the Pocket-iWatch.
