Ok so I’m not a fan of “wireless” charging but the car charger is really cool!!!!!

The new pucks look really nice, but they're not out until SUMMER? That sucks. The current Belkin Boost UP is far too big, makes it easy to completely miss the coil. Unfortunately, the Mophie only comes in Black.

It's Belkin, so lemme guess... somewhere between $49.99 and $79.99 for the exact same thing you could buy on Amazon for $19.99.

Well so far Belkin and Morphie are the only companies supporting charging at 7.5w on the iPhone. Assuming this device supports that, it’ll have that over the other cheaper brands found on Amazon.

Just gotta state the obvious... this is not wireless. What if the "wireless" on your phone of computer required your laptop to touch some device for network connectivity. Based on current Apple logic, my iPhone 1 dock counts as wireless charging. They are now using the Job's Reality Distortion Field for evil, instead of good.

Yes, actually it IS wireless.
People are really getting butthurt over semantics of this technology and play this game. The point in which the transmitter that is a pad on a desk, installed flush mount on a table or window mount -- and the receiver which is your phone, there are NO wires, hence wireless.
I get your point that sure we'd love to have what's called "power at a distance" that is meters away. This is technology that everyone really wants. But don't get upset with the marketing term of wireless when it's true to the word, just not to the extent of what you want.
Like saying "Tesla doesn't actually have autopilot, they need to be accurate and say it's lane-guidance with sensor assist speed controlled, crash avoidance with parking featured ..." Once the car can come pick me up at the bar when I'm drunk and take me home and carry me to bed, that's when they can say it's autopilot.

Yes! Or even better - RAM mount style ball mount with many different options.

Yes! I got a iTap magnetic wireless qi charger. So I just touch my phone and the magnet holds it in place and charges it. It has a bunch of small holes in the back so I took my old vent mount and screwed it into the iTap and now I have a magnetic wireless vent mount charger holder. It turned out pretty nice!

Wireless charging is well and good for overnight or when you're at a desk all day. As a road warrior, I need something small which can juice up my iPhone X when I have a couple of minutes of free time. I'm waiting for a pocketable USB-C Power Delivery (PD) charger.

I won't really be ready for wireless charging until all of my devices support it. I still have to charge my iPad nightly and with limited space on my nightstand my current solution is still the best for me. I have a phone and watch to charge as well but the watch is infrequent these days. Series 3 lasts so long I have started wearing it to bed and only charging when I shower and maybe an hour here and there randomly. Once I have all of my devices, AirPods too, wireless enabled then I might be ready to make it a bigger deal. As of today, its really no bother to just plug my phone and iPad in at night.
I felt the same. I’m going to try a single wireless pad by the door for my iPhone 8. It’s the only wireless charging gadget we have in the house. I’m hoping to just drop it there when I come in, not be diffracted by my phone during family time, and take it upstairs for kids’ bedtimes. I’m hoping it works so I can feel confident about gradually moving all our devices that direction.

If a wireless charging solution involves physically placing a device on a pad with a wire then it’s not really a wireless charging solution.

That's the best they could come up with? An entire year and this is what we get?

It's Belkin. What did you expect from them that you are so disappointed? And also it's Belkin... they didn't "come up" with anything. They mostly just put their name on otherwise generic stuff and mark it up 200,000%. They have no signature product or competency. Their products are no better, and often worse, than competitors -- and usually more expensive.

It's more convenient than having to plug in. When true wireless is ready that will be great. Until then why bitch and moan about progress? Inductive charging is a form of wireless charging. It's just not far-field

Last I checked Samsung offered what is referred to as "wireless charging" well before Apple offered it. Sorry Charlie, can't blame Apple for the terminology. It didn't coin the phase. But if inductive charging is not wireless, what is it then? I think maybe you don't understand the concept of near-field and far-field, and that wireless can be either.

They use to have all kinds of unique products.

Years before anyone else, they offered a wi-fi connected Skype phone that looked just like a normal cellphone. It was great. Bring it anywhere with wifi and you could make calls without the need to use phone minutes. Worked great when traveling to other countries.

They certainly have changed but their products are still very high quality, especially compared to most of the adaptors, cables, and other stuff out there. They may be more expensive but at least you know they're Apple certified, will always work with your device, and will last 10x longer than the cables you'll pay 1/4 the price but have to replace every couple months.

I for one am psyched for a single solution to be able to charge my AirPods, Watch, and (eventually) iPhone all at one place without a Medussian tangle of cables dangling everywhere. If only such a product existed. So tired of the tedious plugin ritual.

I was thinking, the delay in charging pads coming out is good because I've realised I don't need one. It seems like more stuff compared to a small white cable that works fine.

I bet this charging pad has a whopping huge powerpoint brick.

Ahead of this year's Consumer Electronics Show, which is set to kick off next week, popular accessory maker Belkin has announced several new wireless charging products designed for Apple's latest iPhones.

The Belkin Boost Up Bold Wireless Charging Pad is similar to the existing Belkin Boost Up Charging Pad available from Apple, but it comes in several different colors, like black, white, pink, and navy. It offers up to 10W output for fast charging on all Qi-enabled devices.

The Belkin Boost Up Wireless Charging Stand features the same circular design and the same colors as the Bold, but its charging surface is propped up by a frame that allows the iPhone to be charged while in landscape or portrait mode rather than when laying flat on a table. It works with all Qi-enabled devices and offers 10W output for fast wireless charging.

Belkin's Boost Up Wireless Car Charging Mount is designed to offer in-car wireless charging for Qi-compatible devices like the iPhone X, 8, and 8 Plus. It can be mounted on a dash or window, adjusted to fit different phone sizes, and it features an extra USB port for charging other devices. It offers 10W fast charging for all Qi-enabled devices.

The Boost Up Dual Wireless Charging Pad is designed to charge two Qi-enabled smartphones at once, side by side. Each charging pad offers 10W fast charging, and it works with all Qi-enabled devices.

For commercial applications, Belkin is introducing a Boost Up Wireless Charging System, which will be able to be installed in conference rooms, offices, user desktops, restaurants, retail stores, hotels, and more. Top-mount, flush-mount, and sub-surface mounting options are all available.

All of Belkin's new wireless charging products will be available in the spring or summer of 2018, with pricing unavailable at this time.

I bought the RAVPower charger and plug for $25 on Amazon. It supports the 7.5 w fast charging that iOS 11.2 offers. Save your money. The reviews for it are great.

Why not? There is no wire between phone and pad => Wireless!

Is there a wire connecting the phone to the charger? No...

Not a big hater of the term wireless myself but the point is valid. A cordless phone still has a cord but you can walk away from that cord. What’s the big deal here? That cord that is running from your ac plug under your stereo still has to connect to the base hanging off of your dashboard. Your phone then has to be physically connected to that base. It adds nothing other than a few seconds it takes to plug the wire into your phone. Big deal.

I like the car phone holder idea.

I have two of these. One for each car. Well worth the $50. I tried others and there are a variety of options on Amazon (including vent Qi wireless options), but I have found that they are sensitive to the thickness of the case. iOttie charges through every case I have thrown at it.

That's not true, there are a ton of other fast charging options out there from other manufacturers such as Anker. My iOttie car dock is 7.5w fast charging.

If others can release wireless chargers why can’t Apple? What’s the hold up?
Sometimes there are more complicated issues behind the scenes. Whether it's supply issues, R&D, Design issues, safety issues. There is a whole array of things that can go wrong.

Would you rather have a nicely working product or something that isn't as safe, as well designed or as well researched?
