I’m curious just how much it would cost to build grid ourselves using LED panels sourced from the manufacturer?
I’d say you could cut the price in half for materials... then think about how much you get paid for hour and factor that in for labor and support.

Wow, everything is starting to have a microphone these days. Most companies have learned to weaponize capitalism, you need customer data. What better way than microphones.

LOL you can thank communism for Orwellian surveillance that started generations ago, perfected by the FBI to illegally spy on everyone from presidential candidates to ordinary smartphone users. Cameras and GPS are much better than mics, together they are a killer combo.

While I believe the possibilities are endless with this and would love to replicate that image, I have a puny wallet and bank account to go with it :(.

Quick math here. The triangular panels are ~ 0.252278 sq ft. A 30-pack (most econimical advertised) costs $552.43. That’s $72.99 per sq ft.

The image above shows panels stacked 16 high (assuming an 8 ft wall would make these 6” square.) The wall then would be ~ 8’ x 22.5’, or 180 sq ft.

180 sq ft @ $72.99 / sq ft = $13,138.20

An expensive proposition for most, but completely within the realm of possibility for most wealthy individuals.

Just curious. Where do you see a 30-pack? The only thing i see in their store is a 9 panel starter kit for $229.99 and then a 3 panel expansion set that is sold out but sells for what I assume is $59.99 since the store thumbnail says the nanoleaf light panels start from $59.99.

Poof! Gone, it appears. They’ve restructured their sales page since I did the calc above a few days ago. They had a “power user” or “ultimate” or similarly labeled with marketing mumbo jumbo kit for sale.

These are cool, but I think this company needs to go beyond the cool factor and get practical (and hopefully help lower their price-point). Has Nanoleaf ever discussed the possibility of ceiling mounting their panels? Not having seen one in person to the panels pump out enough lumens to be used as home lighting?

Yes, they’re ceiling mountable. In fact, with their flexible connect strips and screw mounting plate, you can have lights go up the wall and continue seamlessly to the ceiling. Of course, this will require screw holes in your ceiling, which is why most folks put them on the wall with contact strips.
