Tile, known for its range of Bluetooth trackers for finding lost items, today announced partnerships with several major Bluetooth companies that will see the integration of Tile technology onto Bluetooth chips.

Product manufacturers who are interested in using Tile's tracking functionality for various Bluetooth-enabled products will be able to integrate it during production.

"Through BLE chip partnerships, Tile will quickly become a foundational building block for BLE-enabled product manufacturers in a variety of verticals, from audio and cameras, to laptops and wearables," said CJ Prober, CEO of Tile. "With over 20 billion BLE devices forecasted to ship in the next four years, 'Find with Tile' will soon be a key everyday feature in consumer products."
Tile has inked deals with multiple companies that produce Bluetooth chips, including Qualcomm, Dialog Semiconductor, Silicon Labs, and Toshiba. According to Tile, its agreements with these companies will see integrated Tile reference designs and increased platform compatibilities.

Tile is also partnering up with Sennheiser, Sol Republic, Plantronics, and Soundcore by Anker, with all four of these companies set to release Tile-enabled products in 2019. These Tile integrations will allow products to be found using built-in Tile technology if lost.

Tile already has partnerships with companies that include Bose and Skullcandy.

Great way to get more customers on a subscription basis.

As for their existing products, tile is much better now there's a replaceable battery.

Not related to the article, but does anyone know how using the Tile app affects the iPhones battery?

I kinda don't understand how it works... If it connects via Bluetooth, then it only works within a Bluetooth range right? 50-80 meters at best.

Anyway it can be useful inside a building.

It works best for when you need to be somewhere, and you can’t find your keys wallet etc but you know they are in the house.

Instead of aimlessly searching around while your stress level rises you can locate the item within a minute.

It would be nice if this could use any bluetooth connection to get back to you with a location. Use any nearby device to reach a network with a message. Maybe we could find my wife's Airpods that went someplace during vacation.

It does.

If a tile was on the AirPods, and across the world somebody with another tile passed them, you would get a message on your app saying the location had been updated by another tile user, and showing you where it was spotted.

Ahh, I have not read the details of Tile. What a good idea that I think I am going to need to look in to. Thanks for the info. Not sure it will be practical to connect to an Airpods case but maybe I can find some other ideas.

It works via crowdsourcing the Tile app. Other tile users will pick up that device and report its location if they come within bluetooth range. What this technology needs is a first party like Apple to buy them up and ensure the functionality is proliferated.

The tile mate fits -just- perfectly on an AirPods case, I know ;). You do need to buy the little sticker things they sell separately though

Tile is great, I’ve been using it since gen 1 and it has certainly matured. It has saved me from so,so,so many stress filled moments, many used to fault it for non replaceable batteries, but they’ve just fixed that with the newest generation.
