exactly. atmos really needs independent ceiling mounted speakers. some of the very high end sound bars with atmos do an "ok" job of reflecting sound upwards independently but lets face it... $399 for ATMOS in a sound bar with Airplay 2? this won't sound good, or at the least won't sound like "surround" or "ATMOS" sound, no freaking way.

JBL makes great sounding 5.1 bars. They do an amazing job at reflection. My soundbar can make it sound like sounds are coming from behind or above you. It's a fun trick to show guests when they visit - put on a demo and they'll be checking over their shoulders.

Is Dolby Atmos really worth it in a sound bar? Especially without a woofer? I have a well rated Vizio that could sound a bit better, especially after I upgraded to OLED last year and love my Dolby Vision 4K ultra deep color HDR goodness. Seems like my soundbar isn’t living up to the display. My living room isn’t good for surround.
