These are all still niche devices - why don't you just buy one then? You're not going to be seeing more than 100w PD for years yet in an all in one device so just forget about it and for the third time, buy a device that charges everything apart from the MacBook Pro in one and use the official charger for that again REDUNDANCY IS BETTER THAN A SINGLE DEVICE.

But but but you said 200W chargers will never happen. :) I made inquiries and they said it will launch some time in 2022.

I'm book marking this when they come out with a more than 100W PD charger in months to come.

I mean they're still not mass market consumer devices - in fact none of the ones you linked to even exist to buy as as specialist device.

I'm sure eventually there will be multi port USB-C devices that comply with the newer standard that the new MacBook Pros are using but it tooks AGES to get to the point where a 100w device was available in a single socket not made by Apple, nevermind multiport devices. Again I suspect when it does happen any mainstream device will split the 140w between all its ports because in 99% of cases that's fine anyway, there's no need to charge every device plugged in at full speed at the same time.

You can come back to this thread and let me know when I can buy the 4 port USB-C charging device though i'd actually like one of those.

Oct 2019 was when the 96W MBP 16" came out. It took less than 24 months to get a multi-port charger with at least 1 port that can output 100W.

Oct 2021 was when the 140W MBP 16" came out. Before 2024 I expect a multi-port charger with at least 1 port that will output 140W.

USB PD 140W & 240W are expected to be used by gaming laptops. So odds are we will see it being deployed sooner than 2 years.

Won't this just do everything you need it to do? You don't really need the extra 40w for charging the MacBook Pro do you? It's not going to use the full amount for most of the charging and you'd barely notice the difference in time if it's just plugged in all day.

The second one is a industrial rack mount unit...

You said 200W chargers are not available to consumers. I found some that runs contrary to your point of view.

I said 200w+ most likely wont be consumer units, the main two you've provided aren't, they're industrial units. The doesn't mean anyone can't buy on, it means they're not aimed at mainstream consumers.

You've gone to a lot effort here - are you ok??
