I usually drink expressos.
They don't need to stay hot for that long.

It's not that it's out of a price range. It's the fact that it's easily 1000% more than an insulated container that can do the exact same thing (i.e. keep your beverage hot) and last your entire life. It's about being environmentally friendly as you don't have to toss it after 1 to 2 years when the battery no longer holds a charge on the Ember.that part I agree. I think people on this forum are well aware of thatjust because something is out of your price range, that doesn't necessarily make it "dumb".
Absolutely right! It’s not a price thing. I just don’t feel comfortable buying one and then replacing again and again and again to keep my drink warm over time. It’s just not environmentally friendly to me. I get the convenience of it, sure and I’m sure many enjoy it!It's not that it's out of a price range. It'd be nice if Ember sold replacement batteries since it's not that difficult to get the old one out, but they'd rather sell you another $200 travel mug.
Not directly, but the caffeine would boost productivityHow much billable work can you do on that mug?
This is highly relatable. 😂I don't know about you, but I know the location of my mug of coffee at all times. It's not going anywhere.
Actually, it is an excellent example of over-engineering.
I'm not really sure who this was aimed at, but I live in a city with loads of amazing small cafes owned and staffed by baristas who know and care about coffee. There's not a straight dichotomy between owning your own grinder and drinking Starbucks coffee, although tbf maybe that is the case in the US where I hear the coffee situation is still pretty poor.Save your money for a good grinder and beans. Start with pour overs.
If you’re drinking Starbucks you are the problem.
There are plenty of amazing non-Starbucks cafes in Los Angeles where I am located.I'm not really sure who this was aimed at, but I live in a city with loads of amazing small cafes owned and staffed by baristas who know and care about coffee. Yes, two sizes.Does Ember really make a mug? All I see in the picture is a tumbler.
These also cool the beverage to a drinkable temperature (quicker than just opening the lid) and holds it there. For those that have spent money on expensive grinders, brewers, papers, scales and prepare their water beforehand (as they do in some of the more coffee serious countries), I can see how having the result of all that expenditure last for as long as it sits on the charging plate could be worth it for them.Yeah, three hours doesn’t seem like much. I have a cheap mug that I use and I go into my office, my coffee it’s still sometimes too hot after a few hours, and I have to be careful not to burn myself.
And, it never tastes the same after microwaving, really. At first glace I thought this was stupid. BUT, then I remembered how many times Ive put down my coffee mug in the morning and forgot where it was. Or how many times ive stuck it in the microwave to reheat and then forgot where it was.
If you read the Amazon reviews of this company’s products you will find many reports of the ceramic coatings of its cups flaking off .
At CES in Las Vegas this week, temperature-controlled mug maker Ember said that it plans to release a new Travel Mug 2+ with support for Apple's Find My app in the second quarter of 2023, according to TechCrunch and Engadget.

This new functionality will enable users to track the location of the Travel Mug 2+ in the Find My app in the same way as an iPhone, iPad, AirPods, or another device. The new mug will also have a built-in speaker that can emit a chime to help users find it when it is misplaced. The mug will otherwise have identical features and pricing as the existing Travel Mug 2, which is available for $199.95 in the United States.
Ember's temperature-controlled mugs are designed to keep your coffee or other hot beverage at your desired drinking temperature for up to three hours, or all day if the mug is kept on the included charging coaster. The mug can be connected to an iPhone via Bluetooth and controlled with the Ember app, and the Travel Mug 2 also has built-in touch controls for setting a preferred temperature between 120°F and 145°F.
The new Travel Mug 2+ will eventually replace the existing Travel Mug 2.

How? It's a $199.95 mug. It would suck to lose it. If I already owned this mug, I wouldn't upgrade just for Find My support, but it's a nice bonus for future buyers.
EDIT: Unless you mean the entire concept of the temperature-controlled mug.![]()
