Nanoleaf, known for its line of HomeKit-enabled light panels, bulbs, and strips, today announced the launch of several new Matter-compatible accessories that are set to come out in 2023.

The Nanoleaf Skylight modular ceiling fixture is similar to the Nanoleaf wall-mounted panels, but designed for use on the ceiling. Skylight includes square LED panels that can be set to one of 16 million colors and arranged in multiple designs.

Like all Nanoleaf products, the Skylight connects to a smart home setup via WiFi and offers Rhythm Music integration, screen mirroring, light scenes, and group scenes. It supports Matter (and therefore works with HomeKit), plus it works as a Thread Border Router for improving the connectivity of other Thread devices.

Nanoleaf is also launching a 4D TV Smarter Kit that includes a Matter-compatible Lightstrip that can be attached to a TV and a Screen Mirror Camera that detects what's on your TV to match the lights to the content. The Lightstrip has 50 separate addressable zones and comes in two lengths for 55" to 65" TVs and 70" to 80" TVs. The Lightstrip can mirror the TV, and it can also synchronize all of the Nanoleaf lighting products in the room for a comprehensive entertainment experience.

In the near future, Nanoleaf plans to launch Matter-certified Essential Lightstrips and Bulbs (A19, BR30, GU10, and a Recessed Downlight), which will be able to work with HomeKit and other Matter-capable smart home platforms. Nanoleaf's full line of light panels and bars will be Matter upgradeable later in the year, with Nanoleaf providing a software update to add Matter support.

Along with new lighting products, Nanoleaf is working on a Sense+ Controls line that includes a hardwired Smart Light Switch, Wireless Smart Light Switch, and Nala Learning Bridge. These products all include built-in motion and ambient light sensors for creating automations and schedules that match with daily routines.

Sense+ products, which are Thread and Matter-compatible, work with Nanoleaf's Nala Automations Learning Assistant to learn each user's lighting preferences to create personalized automations. Nanoleaf says that Nala will suggest turning lights on and off, adjusting colors, adjusting brightness, and more, based on usage.

All of Nanoleaf's new products are set to launch later this year. Matter-enabled Essentials Bulbs and Lightstrips will come in the first quarter of 2023, while the 4D Smarter Kit will launch in the second quarter of the year. The Skylight and the Sense+ Controls are coming in the third quarter of 2023. More information is available on the Nanoleaf website.

maybe supply chains are such that product makers are back on track with the confidence to build newer tech?
Eh? There are announcements every year at this time, Lol. You haven't noticed newer tech being announced all the way through this pandemic?

The key is to look 1 year ahead and see all the products that either failed or failed to materialize.

Is anyone else reading this to mean that Nanoleaf Is upgrading previously released items to Matter? I thought they already said that they were NOT upgrading previously released bulbs and light strips to matter, but the statement above sound like they are.

How many lumens is the skylight?
3000 lumens

On the flip side, Nanoleaf’s stunning new Nanoleaf Skylight will be a big hit in any home. The modular ceiling fixture is comprised of square LED panels and can mimic the presence of a skylight in your roof with tunable white light up to 3,000 lumens or offer up a dynamic lighting scene using some of its 16 million colors.

I will stick with HUE, but I like those Sense switches.
I love my Hue bulbs and strips, but most of the Hue stuff is just basic, I want to start getting creative with my lighting. Plus, if I can get things like Lightstrips that aren’t used much for a fraction of the Hue price, I’ll do it.

Will be interesting to see how the TV setup compared to the Govee stuff. I love my Govee TV backlights and coordinated lighting. It has trouble with some colors, but given the low price (especially when on sale) is pretty impressive. Hopefully Nanoleaf can do a better job, though I’m a little worried about what they’ll price it at.

Wait - who thought the weird wand camera atop the TV was a good idea?
I’ll admit I thought it looked pretty stupid when I first got my similar Govee setup. But after a couple days I never really noticed it again. You’d have to be looking down at the TV for it to interfere with anything. And with the camera it just works no matter what is playing on the TV, vs. a system that reads an HDMI input like the Hue setup. But the downside, at that wide angle it’s hard for it to truly pick up the edge color much of the time, which is why I wonder if the Nanoleaf will really be as good as the pic here shows.

If only Nanoleaf accessories worked well using only homekit...
It's a bit misleading to market products as Homekit enabled if you still need the proprietary app to achieve any decent functionality...

But the tv strip seems cool. Especially considering Nanoleaf’s current strips are boring single color ones that are a step backwards from my old LIFX ones

Seems to be the case with 90% of homekit products

Only "full line of light panels and bars" — so not bulbs / strips which lines up with what they already stated.

I already have Nanoleaf panels and bulbs so adding this would be extremely simple. The price is what I'm most interested in, though. It will surely be more expensive than the Govee, but I'm hoping it will be priced less than the Hue.

The Govee Envisual seems to be the one to get at this point, normally priced around $140, but I'm hesitant to add yet another smart system to my already complicated smart home setup.

The Hue system is amazing, but I cannot justify spending a minimum of $500 for coordinated bias lighting.

$250 or less? Take my money Nanoleaf.

I recently spent a few weeks fighting with their customer service over a shipping issue, and it was irritating enough that I've sworn off buying anything else from that company. Frustrating enough that over the next year I am going to replace all my nanoleaf products with Philips Hue. These things are too expensive to 1. not work with 5 GHz wifi, 2. not have a dedicated bridge as an option, 3. have an app that feels outdated, and 4. have a customer service model where you can't talk to a person, only email, and take several weeks and several emails to rectify a shipping issue. Honestly, if I'd talked to a person who had any empathy or urgency or critical thinking skills, I'd have forgiven the first three. Poor customer service is a deal breaker for me.

Just putting my experience out there for anyone on the fence.

I’d be happy if they could just get my Nanoleaf Essentials to perform as advertised. The number of times one “can’t be reached” is mind boggling. I can have four bulbs in one room and one will be unreachable.

Thread was supposed to make all of this *more* reliable, not less. ;)
