So the pioneers of smart lights are still out of Matter. it seems they don’t.
I wish I'd waited a couple of years to pick my colored bulbs...Hue is clearly legacy tech now, but I'm stuck with it because of sunk cost (and a hybrid system is a non-starter given how bad the home app is).So the pioneers of smart lights are still out of Matter. it seems they don’t.
You ever find your Hue switches unresponsive, needing to tap the button 2-3 times before it snaps out of it?Every bulb in my house is a Hue, I have a bridge and like 10 buttons/switches. I also have purchased around 50 bulbs + accessories for family and friends. I'm making this company a lot of money!
I love the product. What else in your house hasn't been updated in 100 years basically?
Any advice on what other hue products I should explore? I guess all my exterior lights are still old school.
130 bucks to force me to stay with Samsung? No thanks! Maybe you guys can convince me?
Works great but I miss the syfi sync app 100 times betterI always think those colors syncing to your tv look good as static images, but how well do they actually work while watching tv? By that I mean, I think I would find constant changing colors on my wall to distract me from what is happening on the screen, i.e. not be a good overall experience.
Relax, only the hub needs to be updated, and a that’s a software update…I wish I'd waited a couple of years to pick my colored bulbs...Hue is clearly legacy tech now, but I'm stuck with it because of sunk cost (and a hybrid system is a non-starter given how bad the home app is).
I have a Philips Ambilight TV and Hue bulbs - I love the experience but its not for everyone. There are settings within the TV App - so modes for movies, sports etc, the different modes mean the lights can be tuned to constant changing or a smoother flow to whichever suits you.I always think those colors syncing to your tv look good as static images, but how well do they actually work while watching tv? Yep, + Smoke, water spray, wind, smell and the stuff I cant remember. Its, erm.............different.Is that the thing where the seats give you whiplash? I can’t understand why anyone would want to be thrown around in their seat while watching a movie.
that's weird, reliability is why I've stuck with Hue for my bulbs. Between a buddy of mine and myself, we have somewhere around 30 bulbs, most of those are early gen bulbs, and not a single failure.Agreed in general with Philips/Hue. Decent stuff. But, way overpriced. I originally bought Hue stuff back in the day. But, stop adding as it was just too costly and not that much better than many other products on the market now. Oh yeah, failed anyway. So, didn't want to shell out more at those prices.
According to Hueblog, the app price is per TV and not transferrable. But the Philips TV menu system is slow (it is an older, 5 year old Ambilight TV, I hope new ones are better)
So this option to use on Samsung TVs is a great idea - but its a lot of money for an App - I'm assuming it will be per TV. If its per household/account then I'd be tempted by it for my Samsung TV and getting another to replace my Philips TV
Thank you, thats pretty poor then. If you have 2 TVs its not going to be cheap. Even worse what if a TV goes faulty after say 6 months, you get a replacement under warranty but then the fee you have already paid is not transfereable to the new replacement TV. Wow. something tells me not many people will be signing up for this !According to Hueblog, the app price is per TV and not transferrable.
"The app only works with this TV set, and it cannot be transferred to other TV sets. The app can be used for five years and then for as long as we support it with updates."
I think it may come down in price as people are unlikely to purchase and therefore might not need to buy Hue lights. The main advantage the app has over the sync box is that it can detect anything on the screen. It's technically cheaper than the box, but the box can be used in multiple rooms – although not at the same time and you'd need have cables running throughout the home (which I do anyway).Thank you, thats pretty poor then. Im not…. Every other bulb I buy that works with HomeKit is sub par to philips. From response speed to having a long boot up time of someone uses the light switch then you have to wait to control or with HomeKit. If the internet goes wacky HomeKit is all screwed up but my philips hue I can at least fall back to that app. Hue is worth every penny im sad to admit I have 65 hue devices and still haven’t found anything to compare, and yep I’m still trying.Everyone's talking about the $130 sync app, but no complaints about an $80 colored floodlight bulb.
I guess I had bad luck. I didn't have as many as you. But, my point is I have other LED builds as well and those were reliable. But, half the money.that's weird, reliability is why I've stuck with Hue for my bulbs. Agreed. Hue still has the edge when it comes to certain types of light (GU10 for example) but competitors make equivalent or better products. Nanoleaf Essentials light strip, for example. It has better brightness than the Hue one and is usually around half the price *and* has Thread.I guess I had bad luck. I didn't have as many as you. Early on seems like the Hue lights were really the only game in town and looked the best. I think there is plenty of good competition now and much more affordable. I just can't justify their prices.
